No offer made by WP Diamonds
WP Diamonds advertises that "they will make an offer to buy your diamond". I submitted my GIA-certified diamond information using their online valuation form. They refused to even make an offer.

WP offered me 500 for my Tudor
WP offered me 500 for my Tudor, I got $1600 elsewhere. They offered 1600 for my Omega, Watchbox gave me $2300. I'd steer clear.

Hi Forrest, Very sorry to hear about your disappointment. WP Diamonds likes to factor in for the necessary service costs ahead of time when providing a quote rather than quoting a high number and then deducting that amount when the watch is received. This is necessary so that we can sell the watch to our end user with a one year warranty and in new condition. We believe this is a more honest and fair way of doing business and promotes proper expectations throughout. Unfortunately, automatic movement watches are very expensive to service, so in turn it does limit the amount that can be offered. Any outlet that purchases the watch will need to service it, some just don't like to factor in for it ahead of time. Your comment on the Tudor is not accurate as we had offered $850, which is around 33% of what the watch is selling for brand new. As the other reviews show, we are very strong across the board for all Jewelry/Watch items. There of course are going to be certain items where there is a one-off offer that ends up much higher, but across the board we are one of the strongest companies out there in terms of offers, and second to none in terms of the service provided. --WP Diamonds Management

Every Excuse Under the Sun
I started dealing with WP Diamonds a few months back on a quote for three items of Jewelry. Originally emailed and spoke with Emre who gave us as quote/estimate in Pounds (£)..... Emre advised that one was a ring was sell-able and gave us a price for it and the other (Matching ring and earrings) they said they wouldn't sell due to the size of the stones. I was then sent an emailed quote that stated "an engagement ring" with a estimate of between x and x for it. In Dec we decided we would let the ring go as I don't wear it. My partner arrived and he is then told by Dave who was working sorry this quote is wrong we only work in US Dollars and infact the new quote/estimate is not even close in Dollars either. You can imagine how frustrating this is, when you have been given one figure and now when you are in front of them another figure is given and currency changed too. I was having a private conversation with my Partner telephonic ally as I was at home and I'm listening to Dave who is dealing with us having a go at me via my partner...I wont repeat what he was saying but totally unacceptable and his behavior unacceptable. Partner leaves and I get a phone call from Dave, saying oh the price I was quoted was joint, two rings and earnings...told him a load of rubbish as I had had a conversation with Emre re that. Email sent in as I was not happy at all as not only have they wasted out time but money for getting to their premises and back which obviously we wouldn't have done had we known. So basically then trying to offer us even less in Dollars and every excuse under the sun and trying to apologize for quote. I then get an email from Emre trying every excuse under the sun and back tracking on conversations. I'd like to know who pics up the cost of going into Birmingham and back today as it was around £40 and it was a totally waste of time and all I got was abuse and excuses. I would not deal or recommend them after this experience. "Since I can't reply" Prices were not discussed for other two items as I was told you wouldn't take it. We came in as we were happy with the cost and were going to sell it... Pounds which you then changed to dollars and offered even less. You can imagine as most people I'm not happy sending things in the post and if they going missing I doubt you'd pick up the 7k plus replacement option. Like I said every every excuse under the sun and disgusting behaviour which was abusive towards me via Dave. Keep on trying to cover yourself... Its a joke.

Hi Laura, The original inquiry was made back in July where Emre had provided you the two estimates over the phone and followed up right after with the email that gave a combined range. It was a total price and did not indicate that it was for one item as we were interested in both rings that were inquired about. A follow up email was sent weeks later that stated "ring," where it should have said "rings." That is our mistake, and could have easily been clarified with one phone call. That being said, the quotes were clearly explained to you by Emre, however we can understand given the months between the original call and the appointment why there could be a mix-up. As part of our service, we offer free shipping and insurance in both directions! We do not cover travel costs if customers would rather come for an appointment, however we love to host and always welcome that option if it is more convenient. The reviews that we have are what we as a business are most proud of and work towards. We operate tirelessly day in and day out to provide the absolute best customer service while of course providing proper market values as well. Our feedback that we receive from clients on this page speaks volumes about who we are as a business and how our client managers treat their customers. --WP Diamonds Management

Fakery Dickery Dock...
Prior to submitting my item for consideration, I obtained appraisals from three different locations and researched the reviews that were listed for WP Diamonds. Written in a review, WP Diamonds responded to a customer that they provide offers that are "50-70%" of Blue Nile diamond jewelers. As such, I took my lowest appraisal (along with my GIA appraisals) and researched what Blue Nile would charge for my diamonds, as well as several other wholesale companies. I figured, eh, low, but I get it. When the representative called, he started with, "Well, reviewed your appraisal and we do not agree with their assessment." I was like ok, I get it. Then they gave me the price. I could only laugh and hang up. I am sure WP Diamond will write some rebuttal, and I do not care. I understand they are a business and must make a profit. However, it is not for me to provide them with a months payroll of profit. I would advise to only sell your jewelry to this company if you are absolutely desperate. Do not believe the trolls they must have set up to provide all those positive reviews. Update: As expected your rebuttal arrived. I understand you have to justify your offer, and I can even follow your argument. However, they were already sold to a company for more than three times your low offer. I should take advantage of your, "if someone offers you more, we will pay you," but that would require that I contact your company again... and I am sure you have some further loop-hope to not pay. Cheers!

Hi Ray, Sorry to hear about your disappointment in the evaluation. Rest assured, this estimate was provided by our colored diamond experts who have access to information that unfortunately is not available to the general public to be able to research their colored diamonds. In estimating the earrings, we found it odd that of the 32 stones that are meant to be fancy yellow diamonds, only 5 come with GIA reports. The Jeweler claims that the rest are naturally fancy yellow, but that is impossible to determine outside of a GIA lab so that is very much in question, and therefore our estimate has to reflect such. In addition, of those 5, 3 were "Fancy Light," which is the lowest grade of fancy color possible, and none of the reports provided a clarity grade. Normally this unfortunately implies that the stones are heavily included in terms of their clarity. Retailers will sometimes have the "color-only" reports done so that there is no negative information on the report in the form of a clarity grade to therefore help them sell for an inflated value. In addition, the Jeweler that appraised the earrings for you for insurance purposes appraised them at well over double what a proper retail value would be. This is not something that we can make up for or control, so unfortunately we now look like the bad guys with our market valuation compared to his inflated insurance value. As the hundreds of reviews show (and most importantly the review right below this one!), the WP Diamonds experience is truly second to none. We pride ourselves on making sure everyone has an amazingly quick and painless experience. Clients send their items in and have their offers and payment available the very next day, something that is not found elsewhere. It is important to do research both when purchasing Jewelry items and selling them to allow for the greatest return. Those that do so as mentioned can see upwards of a 50% return or even higher depending on the deal provided by the retail outlet. Wish you nothing but the best with selling them elsewhere and a Happy Thanksgiving. --WP Diamonds Management

Shop around - Don't fall victim
Shop around and please don't fall victim to the extremely low offers from WP Diamonds. Another reviewer described it as 'daylight robbery' which is quite accurate. WP Diamonds gave me an insulting offer of roughly £700 for my engagement ring with matching wedding band. I brought the rings to H&T pawnbrokers who actually paid fair value for the set at no less than £1,815. Of course businesses need to make a profit, but this is simply ruthless profiteering. I ended up wasting over £30 in postage to and from WP Diamonds, purely for the privelege of having my rings excessively undervalued. The usual sales tactics were played upon heavily here - with the rep rattling off diamond grading letters and stating that the offer couldn't be guaranteed in future if I declined it. It pays to do your research - I received an extra £1,100+ for mine.

Hello Lauren, Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry you feel that way. We provide free price quotes so as to give our customers an idea of our price and to set realistic expectations before sending their items in. This also means that we can pay for the shipping and the insurance so that the entire process is at no cost to you. But in order to do so we need some basic information on your diamonds: carat weight as well as a rough idea of colour grade and clarity grade. Without this information we are simply unable to ascertain a price range and therefore the correct insurance value necessary for shipping. This information can typically be found on any paperwork you have for the diamond (GIA certificate, jewellers appraisal, insurance appraisal etc) or by asking a local jeweller. Unfortunately in this case you did not have that information so the cost of shipping could not be incurred by us. And importantly, we were unable to provide you with a price range before you sent your rings in. The reason your client manager stated that the offer could not be guaranteed in future is simply because diamond prices do change and we cannot lock in a price. It is important that our customers are aware of this fact and make informed decisions. We are pleased that you received a higher offer. We price our diamonds based on the current second-hand market and always do our best to make fair and competitive offers. We always encourage our customers to shop around and make sure that they receive the highest price possible, because we want our customers to be satisfied and because we know that in the vast majority of cases we have the strongest prices. --WP Diamonds Management

I received an insulting offer for the price of a very beautiful valuable engagement ring , saying that the valuation certificate was invalid despite having it done by a reputable family company in Hatton Garden very recently . The emails I received were confusing and inaccurately described the diamonds with the wrong carat . They offered me as little as £400. There is a similar one used on eBay with a very similar spec to my ring for in excess of £11,000. So I can’t help but think that this is daylight robbery . I would be very careful selling to them and not believe what they say your precious items are worth .

Hi Ali, Very sorry for how you feel. Unfortunately jewelers will often times provide information to customers that will put us in a bad position and make us look like we are trying to take advantage of someone when it couldn’t be farther from the truth. One key thing to note on the appraisal in question is this line: h) Unless otherwise stated, all values contained in this schedule do not constitute an offer to purchase nor are they intended to suggest figures likely to be realised in the event of a sale. This is done to protect themselves in case the client were to return back to them looking to sell the item as they know the values they are suggesting are not realistic. While we try to give an accurate range for items offered to us, we can only work with the information we are provided. We cannot go off the price that was paid for a ring given retail mark-ups on jewellery. This customer’s ring was appraised as a 0.70ct I SI2 emerald cut. In our experience, the appraisal inflates the colour and the clarity by at least one grade from reality, which is why we gave a low to high spread of 400-600GBP. In many cases, we have seen both off by several grades. As such, if the diamond were graded as a J I1, the wholesale price for such a diamond is approximately $600 or GBP475. Assuming the side stones are of similar quality, the whole ring would probably wholesale for approximately GBP625-650 which is where the lower side of our range that is mentioned comes into play as we would need to have room for profit. The higher side of the range would have been if the information provided on the appraisal were accurate. We wish you luck in selling your ring and hope you recoup as much as possible of the money spent initially on the purchase. --WP Diamonds Management

A waste of time
Enquired about selling a 1ct diamond ring. Was hounded by emails from this company, only to provide all details of the item to then be told they were not interested in it. What a complete waste of my time. No explanation given as to why they made this decision so I am non the wiser. The website confirms they buy diamond jewellery which this item was, an entirely fruitless exercise.

Hello Zoe, Thank you for your feedback, and so sorry you feel that way. We unfortunately were not aware that the largest diamond on the ring was .08cts, which is why we had to pass in this case. We do wish you the best of luck with your ring and wish we could have helped. --WP Diamonds Management

Hi Ernest, We would like to look into this inquiry for you so that we can investigate the estimate that was provided and what the issue is. What name did you inquire under in our system? We see no inquiry from you with this name or any combination. Further, we do not see an estimate of £175-£350 provided to any client in the recent weeks so we are a bit puzzled by this review. Please email [email protected] with your information so we can look into this for you. Thank you, WP Diamonds

We are very sorry that you were not satisfied with your Tiffany item. We strive to always provide accurate images and dimensions. It would seem, in this instance, that this piece is one of our older SKUs and was listed on our website without measurements and we only provided the original MSRP. They only offered me 10% to 20% of what my diamond ring was appraised for. And that appraisal was almost 30 years ago! I know that neither diamonds, nor gold, have gone down in value.
Date of experience: November 17, 2018
Hi Diane, Thank you for inquiring and giving us the opportunity to offer you the great service that is so highly touted by all of our reviews. Sorry it couldn’t work out for your item. In this case we were not provided a copy of the appraisal on the inquiry and only had the center stone to estimate. That being said, the value that you are suggesting is on the appraisal is very high for insurance purposes. That is common, and was the same back when you had it done originally. These days Marquise cuts are not as popular as they once were, which would also suggest the value difference. The higher side of the estimate assuming the information on your diamond is accurate would be about 30-40% of a current retail value. That is a common in this industry due to the retail markups. We cannot control how much a jeweler will mark an item up, we just have to do our best to provide the fair market value. Some jewelers will mark items up more than others, so the percentage returns can fluctuate. Here is an article that details why appraisals are not good to use when trying to determine a market value done by an independent appraiser: http://thegemlab-icga.com/sellingyourjewelry.html Wish you the best of luck in selling your ring! -WP Diamonds
