Poor service
The mortgage company lead to believe my loan would be approved and they gave me a letter of pre-approval that also went to escrow and the selling agent. They were taking too long creating anxiety with the seller and agent. After a month, i decided to go elsewhere and they in turn denied my loan despite the fact they had provided a letter of pre-approval.

Better.com should be Best.com
Better.com of course gave the best rate but more importantly I found them most transparent, honest and had the best online interface to manage every detail of the refinance process. Their team was super responsive and offered great help that helped me to worry one less thing in my life.

I used Better for a refinance and it…
I used Better for a refinance and it was a 100% better experience than the company I used to buy my house! Although they are online-only, they had better accessibility than companies that meet in person! Also, their website is clean, efficient, understandable, and without bugs. I cannot stress how important it is to have a good website that works well and is intuitive when it comes to submitting important documents. They provide you a team of people to get your loan to the closing finish line and they are very knowledgeable. We had plenty of questions and ran many scenarios with our loan and they were patient to answer all questions clearly and talk through all of our scenarios. Great experience!

Fantastic experience from start to finish
Fantastic experience from start to finish. Top notch communication, clear and concise instructions and task management, and the entire process took around 3 weeks- all of it online! And you just cannot beat the APR! Highly recommended.

Better matched my rate and the website…
Better matched my rate and the website was straight forward and easy to use. But you should be aware that after you lock in your rate there is almost no human contact or ability to get questions easily answered.

The application process was straight forward and easy
The technology was great. Easy to use. Explanation and tips were provided all through the process. They were able to price match/beat Rocket mortgage. Delays are expected in the current environment, but 60 days to close isn't bad. Documents were easy to upload and the ability to eSign some of the closing documents and review prior to signing was helpful. I would recommend or use them again.

Seamless mortgage refinance
I refinanced my mortgage with better.com and was very happy with the process. It took about 5 weeks from locking in my interest rate to closing. The better.com website is so great and made the whole process really easy to navigate. I had some reservations about going with an online-only company, but they assign an individual expert to your case each step of the way and they were very responsive via email or phone. I had no issues and would definitely work with them again!

Very seamless refinance, Good company
Very seamless refi, communication was always swift (as in minutes/hours) unlike other lenders days/weeks. My only complaint was after my appraisal they adjusted my loan because my home didn’t come in at a 70% LTV, it came in at 79%. This was never explained to me and would have cost me $1000 more. I explained this was not disclosed and they restored my original terms (D on initial but A on resolution). Second issue was I was told my appraisal fee of $550 would be refunded at closing. It was not in the disclosure so I asked several times through the process and was told I would get a check after closing for the fee. Closing came and I asked when they would send the $550, they said I would get $100 as the appraisal was 450. They said I would get a refund if the home didn’t require an appraisal (not what I was told and not what was disclosed to me). I argued and they relented and are suppose to be sending my $550. (D on initial disclosure, A on resolution). People are friendly and seems like a great company....but, they do not service the loan (semi-normal). So, feel safe with using Better but read your documents, understand them and make sure they disclose all fees, if they don’t argue the fact and they should make things right.

Tough to get questions answered or…
Tough to get questions answered or contact once the rate is locked. Did like the e sign and loan estimate feature. Not the most transparent about appraisal refund. I was told not to make my mortgage payment on the 1st of Oct during my refi because it was close to the end of the month of September and I was told that Better Mortgage would payoff the loan on that day but they ended up not paying the old loan off until the 2nd which ended up costing me a $50 late fee. Just wished they would have paid the loan off on time.

Arduous process with little competency of employees
The lender pro was not helpful. Most of the work and explanations were with the processor. The underwriter was not sure how to figure out dti. Apparently, Better uses the digital underwriting. That would be fine for your everyday borrower, but if you are retired and/or your income is from your hard earned assets/retirement funds don't expect anyone to use any commonsense. FNMA & Freddie Mac are the major purchasers and the lender and underwriter should be ready to make exceptions or clearly understand the underwriting guidelines.

Good for those who like options
What we really liked were the various rate and term options provided. Once all of our information was sent, we were presented with dozens of different rates and their corresponding financing cost estimates. If you like crunching numbers and evaluating options based on payback period and/or discounted cash flow (the lowest rate may not always be the best), you will appreciate this functionality. Other lenders will give you your PAR rate and corresponding financing cost. If you want a different option, they have to run the numbers again, taking more time. With Better.com, it's all right in front of you, allowing you to make the best possible financial decision. Once we selected the rate we liked, the process was pretty smooth, all digital, and closing was easy.

Better is at least 10x better
Better is at least 10x better than a traditional loan provider. I checked rates at Better just to compare and was planning on just using their rate to negotiate a refinance with my previous lender but wound up using Better instead bc they were so easy to use. The best part is they give you every quote option in terms of rate and points and you can review them all and pick the best one for you. It was like pulling teeth to get my previous lender to provide even 2 different combinations. Their process is so easy - everything on their web portal and a task list so you can see what’s next. It was incredibly smooth and easy. I’ll be using them again and would recommend.

My experience was excellent
My experience was excellent. The stated rate was low, and Better's closing costs were under their initial estimate. The process was straightforward with three different experts taking over at different stages of the process. This was our third refinance and was the easiest. OTOH you will need to provide a lot of information, as with all lenders. So it's helpful if you have downloaded statements, taxes, etc. onto your computer to quickly send them on to Better. I recommend them highly!

Great & Seamless experience overall
It was a great experience working with Better.com for my first mortgage ever. Being a Techie i really liked the way they have automated the whole process . I barely had to make phone calls for anything, everything was done online and the money was funded a day before the closing date. I would recommend Better.com for anyone who is in the market for mortgage ( Especially if they are familiar with the online stuff ).

Fastest, cheapest, best web experience!
I contacted at least 5 different lending services for my refinance, and Better.com was the most responsive by far. They also had the best rates, so moving forward with them was a no-brainer. The web portal is *chef's kiss* incredible. It's the best I've seen in the finance industry. I actually enjoyed logging in and completing my tasks. Thanks for a great experience!

It was a really good experience to do…
It was a really good experience to do my first refinance transaction with Better. The online portal works really good and allows to be in contact with real people by chat or phone if need be with an excellent service and nice people on the other side. The whole process advances quickly and efficiently. Rates and fees are very competitive and they are able to match a better offer from other carrier. I give them 9.7/10 only due to the title transfer processing took longer than expected which is perferctly understandable given the COVID circumstances we are all living now.
