Poor customer service
I've been a frequent customer but received a product I was less than satisfied with. I'm aware of their return policy which states just return the item with an explanation. It also says you may contact them to "facilitate exchanges." Sent an email 5 days ago and have heard nothing. Can't recommend them given the questionable customer service

Just to confirm again, these parts are not included with the bottom bracket, we have verified with Chris King technician more than once. There are not needed for the installation. But nevertheless we got them for you anyway, and they are on the way. Thank you, BikeTiresDirect

I paid extra for priority shipping and …
I paid extra for priority shipping and my package did not arrive on time (I was staying for a short period at a hotel). BikeTiresDirect customer service wasn't helpful (couldn't get someone to pick up the first day of calling), and their shipping policy is not readily apparent on the intitial shipping choices page (quite deceptive in my opinion). I asked for a refund of the extra shipping I paid as my order wasn't met, and all I got was that I should have paid even more and gone with UPS. Why offer express priority shipping to arrive on a certain day if it can't be met? I'm still waiting word on my package that should have been returned to sender, and have not been issued a rebate for the order either.

Hello Noah, I worry you do not see our email as we did not get a response, I will post it here: "Hey Noah, You should remove the tire and tube, and most likely you can shake whatever is in the rim out through the valve hole. It is most likely a spoke nipple that was dropped in there and overlooked during the building process. I opened up a $3500 set of Enve wheels the other day to check them out before shipping and the front wheel had a hard piece of epoxy rattling around in there that must have been left over from when the wheel was made. It took a bit of shaking the wheel around, but it eventually fell out of the valve hole. Sorry for the inconvenience, but give that a try and you should be able to get it out. If you have any other questions feel free to ask." Sorry for the trouble, but if you are still having issues with the wheel let us know. Feel free to give a call as well, we want to make sure you are not still having the rattle in your wheel. Thank you, BTD

Account Problems
I have no problem with the people or the company. My only issue is that I cannot order through my account. Something is busted with my account, and no one at Backcountry seems to have a clue about how to fix it. So the only way I can order anything is through my wife's account.

Poor communication/updates as to order…
Poor communication/updates as to order status. The shipment updates were not working with UPS/USPS and I had to send a message through the contact message on the website. They said it would be delivered today. Today, I received a notice that the delivery was made...NOT. Now I get to figure out how to find an errant shipment. UGH.

Sorry to see, we shipped via USPS International Airmail. Looking at the tracking details, they have sent the package to numerous places. Sorry for the delay, this is out of our control, any other retailer is prone to the same errors of the shipping company. Tracking says it is in Canada now, so you should have it soon. Thank you, BTD

Unexpected charge to credit card :-(
Called in with confusion as to why two pair of Shimano shoes (SH-RC702 & SH-RC502) in the exact same size were so vastly different. Both were 42E. However, the SH-RC702's fit perfect while the SH-RC502's proved astonishingly tight. "Zack" was super cool, explained Shimano had recently changed their sizing and emailed a FREE Return Shipping Label. Sadly, a week later we discovered that the full amount had not been refunded. Since it was after hours we logged into our Bike Tires Direct account and discovered a Return Shipping Label fee of $8.95 had been assessed unbeknownst to us. Didn't know we were being charged for return shipping. Never authorized. Very misleading.

I ordered 10 inner tubes for my…
I ordered 10 inner tubes for my bicycle. I tracked delivery online and it was delayed for a few days from the initial forecast. When the package finally arrived, it was damaged. The 10 small cardboard boxes, each containing one inner tube, were packed in a plastic bag that was broken and open. All 10 boxes inside the bag were crumbled and damaged to some extent, but the contents of the boxes still look usable. Obviously, the post office damaged the package. I'm sure the package was intact when it was shipped. But perhaps you should consider an alternative method of grouping and packing orders such as this.

Sent the wrong item and then sent new…
Sent the wrong item and then sent new item snail mail so I had to go to LBS anyway or not ride the weekend. Also wouldn’t answer follow up emails about shipping or possible double charges and had to drive an hour round trip to return mis-sent item because of the type of label sent. Way more hassle than it was worth.

I ordered Garmin Rally peddles and the order was lost somewhere between your dock and UPS. I contacted customer service a week after placing the order and was told to wait a few more days. Frankly, given the situation, I felt a more sincere effort would have been made to resolve the fact that I have yet to received the peddles. Never-the-less, I waited a few more days and still no peddles. I then spoke to Nate at customer service who arranged to the send the order again and this time by air which I appreciated. I wish that had been done the first time I contacted customer service rather than making me wait. BTW, I have yet to receive the order but I see that UPS has it scheduled for delivery tomorrow (I hope).

Hello Scott, We understand your frustration. It is tricky for us to balance when to reship and when to ask the customer to wait a bit longer. On yours we saw from our software that the order did go out the door and was with the carrier. We see this many times per week and the majority of the time they show up with the customer. So we appreciate your patience while we waited on the shipping carrier and please understand that reshipping immediately when the shipping carrier does not update is not feasible. But yes we have now reshipped and you should have the reshipment tomorrow. Thank you, WBW
