Red Sky were very responsive
Red Sky were very responsive. They communicated throughout the entire review process. We had been delayed because of weather on our trip. They covered the expenses as we had expected. The customer service was great.

Ski Insurance
Ski Insurance - I thought the claim would have been easier to process considering my daughter broke her elbow. Getting the claim started was simple, however, the requests for information was a pain. First request was proof of payment for the insurance. Hello, why wouldn't Redsky have proof of payment on record. Next request was a copy of the initial consultation for the doctor/surgeon. Additionally, we needed to provide a signed attestation from the doctor. The whole claim took approximately 2 months which I felt was way too long.

Frank, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. In order to adjudicate a claim, whether to approve or deny, our examiners require complete documentation supporting such claim, and acquiring such documentation can sometimes take some time. We appreciate your patience in working with us to ensure we had all of this documentation so a final decision could be made. We hope you keep us in mind when it is time for your next trip. Red Sky was great!
My family had a beach vacation planned for July 2020. We had booked two condos but just a few days before we were to leave my father got Covid and had to be hospitalized so one group could not go. I contacted the place we were staying and cancelled one condo. When I contacted Red Sky, they were very nice and easy to work with. I submitted the paperwork and after a short while I got my refund for the trip! When we take our next trip I will definitely use Red Sky again.

Not a fan of Red Sky
I was not going to publish this information, but because Red Sky has asked me to provide a review, I will. I had the worst experience with Red Sky. I travel quite a bit and often take out travel insurance. Never have I had such difficulty with retrieving the cost of a trip (when it was proven that it was no fault of my own) as this. I provided all necessary documentation to tell why my trip should be refunded (my mountain cabin was inaccessible due to a winter storm and the road was closed). I then called three times with very vague information provided about when my claim would be processed. It took about 6 weeks to receive word that my claim was denied. The justification for this was, and I quote, "Generally, travel insurance does not insure losses under every circumstances and only insures the perils listed in the policy, subject to the terms, conditions, restrictions and exclusions. While we certainly understand your disappointment at the partial denial of this claim, please understand that we must consider each claim and the applicable facts under the terms and conditions of the policy purchased. In closing, it is our position that the benefits issued were calculated correctly. If you have any additional information that you feel would affect our determination, please email it to the following address for review: appeals @***********". Upon receipt of this "reason" I quickly did provide an appeal to the company requesting actual policy provisions that would justify a declination of my claim. None came. After a couple of more weeks with no policy justification provided, the company did reimburse the remainder of my claim, up to the amount of the policy limit, which I was okay with. While I did receive the majority of my money back, I feel that one should not have to haggle and demand a policy "reason" for being declined. They clearly had no justification for declining my claim and I feel as though they were hoping I would not question their original decision. This is a terrible way to practice business, in my opinion. People trust them for protection against unforeseen events that are out of their control. I feel that Red Sky (at least in my case) did not honor that trust. For this reason, I would not choose to use them in the future for my travel needs.

Sacha, Thank you for reaching out to us. Each claim is considered on an individual basis dependent on the terms and conditions of the policy purchased. In accordance with the additional information you provided within your appeal we were able to approve your claim during that process. We have used RedSky Insurance for years but never had to file a claim until now. It took a little longer than we expected, perhaps due to Covid, but the claim was handled very professionally and we plan to use them again.

Incase of bad weather, don't rely on this insurance!
We purchased this insurance because of the weather in the Gulf is always changing and wanted to make sure our family vacation went smoothly. On our first night staying at a beach house in Galveston there was a horrible storm which ripped siding off the home blew down an enclosed fence and sent heavy debris flying. A large sign flew straight into the front of my husbands truck going into the bumper and grill then breaking off leaving a piece of wood lodged into the truck. We sent in pictures and the proof they needed to show it was a weather related incident. I wasn't very worried because we had the travel insurance that COVERS personal property damaged up to $500.00 which is what we thought it would be to fix. But after not hearing from them for 3 weeks I called and Red Sky Insurance has decided that our truck isn't our personal property and refuses to pay. They said they'd cover my cell phone if it was damaged or a rental car if it was damaged, but not the truck we just bought only a few months ago. I will never buy their insurance again. It's a scam. Their policy language has loop hole after loop hole. I have found via facebook and other reviews that this company has SCAMMED hundreds of people out of thousands of dollars. They have over 115 complaints against them with the BBB and have ruined countless vacations. AGAIN, DO NOT BUY RED SKY TRAVEL INSURANCE.

Monelle, Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. We understand you are disappointed with the outcome, however, we are required to adjudicate claims according to the terms of your policy. Covered items have been stipulated within your Explanation of Benefits, with separate coverage for rental cars. Your personal vehicle does not fall within that policy language. You may wish to file a claim under your auto insurance instead. If you have any other questions regarding your claim, please reach out to us at 855-762-6252. Regards, The Red Sky Team

Red Sky Travel Insurance worthless?
My claim was denied by Red Sky. I purchased the insurance on 1/21/21 and diagnosed with an illness on 4/17. I was informed by my doctor on 6/10/21 that I must return for my treatment 6/17 and 6/18/21. I filed a claim for the two days that I missed. Red Sky stated that since I did not become ill during my vacation that it would not be covered . I find this unacceptable. Red Sky would only cover part of the vacation if I become Ill during my stay. I thought after purchasing the policy that I would be covered from the date of purchase until after my vacation. Buyer beware!

Do not purchase this insurance
Do not purchase this insurance! I gave one star as I had to put something. No star would be more appropriate. Further, I have tried to resolve the issue with RedSky customer service. I find them to be rude, unaccomodating, and eager to interupt. Below are the facts involving the denial of our claim. May 2, 2021 – May 8, 2021: Our daughter was signed up for an Appalachian State University Field Hockey Camp for the week of July 7, 2021. Our daughter was fully healthy with no injury or “pre-existing condition.” This is evidenced by a physician’s statement provided to RedSky. May 9, 2021-May 15,2021: We decided we would turn the camp into a vacation to be with our daughter and began researching cabin rentals. Our daughter was fully healthy with no injury or “pre-existing condition.” May 17, 2021: Our daughter went to the doctor to check her knee due to some pain. At the time, we were under the impression from doctors that she could still travel and participate in the field hockey camp. No diagnosis of an ACL tear was received at this time. May 18, 2021: Since we were given the impression that she could still travel and attend the camp, we rented the cabin and purchased RedSky insurance through Carolina Cabin Rental. We were also concerned the cabin we picked out the week of May 9-15 would be booked before we could rent it. May 19, 2021: We visited the doctor again due to more pain, who then advised that we get an MRI on May 20, 2021. Note: This is after we purchased the rental and RedSky insurance on May 18th. At this time we were still under the impression that if anything was wrong, it was minor and that she would still be able to participate in the field hockey camp. Again, at this time, no “pre-existing condition” exist as we did not know the outcome of the MRI nor were we advised against traveling. May 20, 2021: Our daughter had an MRI. May 21, 2021: We received the results of the MRI. It was at this point that we learned of the ACL tear and it was at this point that we were advised against travelling and participating in any sports. May 25, 2021: Our daughter had ACL removal and replacement surgery. RedSky is denying our claim due to a "pre-existing condtion" and stating that we knew about the condition prior to renting. Had we known that our daughter could no longer travel or that she even had an ACL tear on May 17th, we would not have booked the trip. Further, the facts above does not meet their definition of "pre-existing condtion."
Date of experience: July 08, 2021
Chris, Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. According to the language within your policy, a pre-existing condition qualifies as an illness, disease, or other condition during the 60 day period immediately prior to the Effective Date of Your coverage for which You or Your Traveling Companion received or received a recommendation for a test, examination, or medical treatment. Based on your file, it appears that your daughter first received medical treatment at the ER for knee pain on May 17th, 2021, two days prior to the effective date of the policy. The attending physician indicated that your daughter was not then fit to travel given her condition. Her ACL tear was subsequently confirmed by the MRI she received on May 21st, 2021, which prompted her surgery a few days later. Per policy language, her knee condition for which she received medical treatment prior to the purchase of the policy that prompted your cancellation would be excluded as a pre-existing condition. Finally, while we understand you were frustrated with the overall claims process, our customer service representatives remained respectful and courteous during your calls with them. File a Complaint with Local State Insurance Board
Red Sky Travel Insurance who's underwritten by Arch Insurance Company is a scam (in my opinion). I am in South Carolina and have filed a complaint with the South Carolina Division of Insurance and I recommend you do the same in your state as well as contact your state representative. We purchased travel insurance for a family reunion planned at Litchfield By the Sea in Pawleys Island, SC in Sept. We purchased the insurance because we were unsure what 1.) hurricane season and 2.) COVID. The majority of the people in our family who'd be traveling to SC were elderly and as you can imagine, they decided to cancel travel due to the resurgence of COVID (delta). I reached out to Red Sky Travel Insurance / Arch Insurance Company to file a claim that was quickly denied. Reading through the rest of the reviews confirm that Red Sky Travel Insurance is likely scamming (in my opinion) consumers and in order for us consumers to stop being taken advantage of you need to #1 stop buying insurance from them, #2 contact the companies who recommend them and urge them to stop selling their product, #3 file complaints with your local state insurance boards and #4 contact your local congressmen to take action against scammy insurance offerings such as the travel insurance offered by Red Sky. After reviewing others comments, it's now not about the money, but about the cause. We as consumers need to stick together and hold insurance companies like this accountable. Regardless of your rebuttal, your service is misleading and consumers have the right to know about your practices.

Sean, Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. Travel insurance is a named peril insurance, meaning only covered events outlined in the policy are insured. Trip cancellation due to fear of becoming sick is not covered within the policy you purchased. A documented diagnosis would be required prior to the trip being cancelled in this instance. We understand you are disappointed with the outcome, however, we are required to adjudicate claims according to the terms of your policy. Regards, The Red Sky Team

Don't waste your money on Red Sky Travel Insurance!
On 7-28-21, I prepaid($451.41), for a trip for my family & I for a 2 night stay(8-11-21 & 8-12-21), at a Vacasa resort. Paid an additional fee to purchase trip protection insurance through Red Sky Insurance. On 8-11, en route to our destination in a rental SUV, our luggage fell off top of vehicle onto I-485, scattering our luggage & the contents, onto the busy highway. We pulled over to side, & I called 911 for assistance. The dispatcher connected me to the highway patrol, & someone was sent out to assist us. They had to shut the lanes down, stop all of the flowing traffic, & clear the highway. No one was physically injured, but most of luggage & inside items were destroyed. We had to turn around & go back home to repack. Of course, we were all upset & stressed out. By this time it was late in the evening, & the trip was a 4 hour drive. I called the resort & notified them about our situation, & requested to come a day later(8/12), & stay 8-12 & 8-13, instead of, 8-11 & 8-12, so I didn't loose money for that 1 night. Was told by Vacasa rep, they was nothing available on the 13th, but since I had purchased travel insurance, I could file a claim for that night of the 11th. We checked into the resort on 8-12, around 5pm, & again, I inquired about any possible vacancies at any of their locations, so we could stay 2 nights as planned, & not loose money for that 1 night(11th). Again, I was told they had no vacancies anywhere, & I since I had purchased trip protection, I could file a claim for reimbursement of that 1 night(11th). We checked out of the Vacasa resort on the 13th, & since we had driven 4 hours, & planned a 2 night stay, we checked into a hotel($343.24 for 1 night)! Received a survey from Vacasa after our stay , & when completing the survey, I mentioned about the incident en route to resort that caused us to miss 1 night stay, & loose that money, & I received a response from PS, Vacasa reputation management team), instructing me to file a claim with Red Sky to be reimbursed for that night. On 8-18, I filed a claim, & sent in documents, receipts, etc. On 8-20, I spoke to a Red Sky administrative rep, & explained the entire incident to her. I informed her that since no one was physically injured, a report was not completed, but I told her I could get a copy of my mobile phone records, showing the 911 call. She said I would receive a decision when the adjuster is finished. On 8-24, I received a denial from Red Sky.On 8-24, I again sent in the requested information, receipts, & also forwarded the email from Vacasa management team instructing me to file a claim with Red Sky for reimbursement of that 1 night(8-11), since I had purchased trip protection. On 8-30, I received an email from Red Sky with a denial, again. On 8-30, I called the no for Vacasa corporate, & spoke to a supervisor(K), & was told, she would see if she can work anything out, & she would call me back tomorrow. It's 9-5, & I have not heard a word from anyone. These companies go out of their way to do huge advertising to attract consumers, As long as everything goes well, it's all good, but when the consumer has a problem, the companies come up with pages & pages of fine print excuses, & in most cases, the consumer looses. Literally, I had a loss of around $200+, it's like I just threw it down the drain! Unbelievable & an injustice!

We filed a claim
We filed a claim, and found the electronic process was easy to follow and efficient. The electronic payout option is also really convenient. We will definitely buy trip insurance again from Red Sky. One small item that should be addressed: our claim was in the status "Closed. Decision made" for a couple days before we were informed of what the decision was. I found that confusing, so I called the 800 number and was told the claim was in final review by a manager. So I'm wondering why the website would indicate that the claim was closed and decision made if it was still in final review.

Need better communication
Bertram was super helpful (I had to call 3 times for help). However, once the claim was assigned to an adjuster, they never communicated with me. I left one VM and sent 2 emails - nothing. Then about 2 weeks later I got an email saying our claim had been paid and the next day it was deposited into our account. So the claims part was good but the communication was not. Was completely in the dark about the status of our claim until it was paid. Tried to check the status online and it always came back with “unable to find your claim”.
