Do not purchase this insurance
Do not purchase this insurance! I gave one star as I had to put something. No star would be more appropriate. Further, I have tried to resolve the issue with RedSky customer service. I find them to be rude, unaccomodating, and eager to interupt.
Below are the facts involving the denial of our claim.
May 2, 2021 – May 8, 2021: Our daughter was signed up for an Appalachian State University Field Hockey Camp for the week of July 7, 2021. Our daughter was fully healthy with no injury or “pre-existing condition.” This is evidenced by a physician’s statement provided to RedSky.
May 9, 2021-May 15,2021: We decided we would turn the camp into a vacation to be with our daughter and began researching cabin rentals. Our daughter was fully healthy with no injury or “pre-existing condition.”
May 17, 2021: Our daughter went to the doctor to check her knee due to some pain. At the time, we were under the impression from doctors that she could still travel and participate in the field hockey camp. No diagnosis of an ACL tear was received at this time.
May 18, 2021: Since we were given the impression that she could still travel and attend the camp, we rented the cabin and purchased RedSky insurance through Carolina Cabin Rental. We were also concerned the cabin we picked out the week of May 9-15 would be booked before we could rent it.
May 19, 2021: We visited the doctor again due to more pain, who then advised that we get an MRI on May 20, 2021. Note: This is after we purchased the rental and RedSky insurance on May 18th. At this time we were still under the impression that if anything was wrong, it was minor and that she would still be able to participate in the field hockey camp. Again, at this time, no “pre-existing condition” exist as we did not know the outcome of the MRI nor were we advised against traveling.
May 20, 2021: Our daughter had an MRI.
May 21, 2021: We received the results of the MRI. It was at this point that we learned of the ACL tear and it was at this point that we were advised against travelling and participating in any sports.
May 25, 2021: Our daughter had ACL removal and replacement surgery.
RedSky is denying our claim due to a "pre-existing condtion" and stating that we knew about the condition prior to renting. Had we known that our daughter could no longer travel or that she even had an ACL tear on May 17th, we would not have booked the trip. Further, the facts above does not meet their definition of "pre-existing condtion."
