Don't waste your money on Red Sky Travel Insurance!
On 7-28-21, I prepaid($451.41), for a trip for my family & I for a 2 night stay(8-11-21 & 8-12-21), at a Vacasa resort. Paid an additional fee to purchase trip protection insurance through Red Sky Insurance. On 8-11, en route to our destination in a rental SUV, our luggage fell off top of vehicle onto I-485, scattering our luggage & the contents, onto the busy highway. We pulled over to side, & I called 911 for assistance. The dispatcher connected me to the highway patrol, & someone was sent out to assist us. They had to shut the lanes down, stop all of the flowing traffic, & clear the highway. No one was physically injured, but most of luggage & inside items were destroyed. We had to turn around & go back home to repack. Of course, we were all upset & stressed out. By this time it was late in the evening, & the trip was a 4 hour drive. I called the resort & notified them about our situation, & requested to come a day later(8/12), & stay 8-12 & 8-13, instead of, 8-11 & 8-12, so I didn't loose money for that 1 night. Was told by Vacasa rep, they was nothing available on the 13th, but since I had purchased travel insurance, I could file a claim for that night of the 11th. We checked into the resort on 8-12, around 5pm, & again, I inquired about any possible vacancies at any of their locations, so we could stay 2 nights as planned, & not loose money for that 1 night(11th). Again, I was told they had no vacancies anywhere, & I since I had purchased trip protection, I could file a claim for reimbursement of that 1 night(11th). We checked out of the Vacasa resort on the 13th, & since we had driven 4 hours, & planned a 2 night stay, we checked into a hotel($343.24 for 1 night)! Received a survey from Vacasa after our stay , & when completing the survey, I mentioned about the incident en route to resort that caused us to miss 1 night stay, & loose that money, & I received a response from PS, Vacasa reputation management team), instructing me to file a claim with Red Sky to be reimbursed for that night. On 8-18, I filed a claim, & sent in documents, receipts, etc. On 8-20, I spoke to a Red Sky administrative rep, & explained the entire incident to her. I informed her that since no one was physically injured, a report was not completed, but I told her I could get a copy of my mobile phone records, showing the 911 call. She said I would receive a decision when the adjuster is finished. On 8-24, I received a denial from Red Sky.On 8-24, I again sent in the requested information, receipts, & also forwarded the email from Vacasa management team instructing me to file a claim with Red Sky for reimbursement of that 1 night(8-11), since I had purchased trip protection. On 8-30, I received an email from Red Sky with a denial, again. On 8-30, I called the no for Vacasa corporate, & spoke to a supervisor(K), & was told, she would see if she can work anything out, & she would call me back tomorrow. It's 9-5, & I have not heard a word from anyone. These companies go out of their way to do huge advertising to attract consumers, As long as everything goes well, it's all good, but when the consumer has a problem, the companies come up with pages & pages of fine print excuses, & in most cases, the consumer looses. Literally, I had a loss of around $200+, it's like I just threw it down the drain! Unbelievable & an injustice!
