Love for free people!
Honestly, I don’t get the bad reviews on here! The only reason my review isn’t 5 stars is because it can often be overpriced for the quality, but that’s why I try to always buy the sale. The pieces always unique and interesting and whenever I wear something from here I inevitably get compliments. I just make sure to take care of the items I get from free people. I try to hand wash or wash on a gentle cycle and always always always hang to dry. Other then the odd thing my clothes have lasted pretty well. I lost a dress (the Marrakech dress) at a hostel a few years ago and I still miss it! If it ever comes back in stock I’m buying at least three. I’ve only had to contact customer service once and had no issues, and the staff in the stores are always super helpful. One of my fav places to get unique and more boho clothing

No Faith in customer service - poor quality
just lost faith in FP - I wrote an honest review about a product I ordered from the site which contained no expletives or any other prohibited language. The review response states it will not be posted so here's the review verbatim: "Arrived Used! Good but not for long walks. These are an attractive pair of sandals and would be good for light use/casual wear but probably not be best for moderate or long periods of walking. BTW they run true to size. The biggest problem for me, and the reason why I'm returning them, is that they arrived noticeably used/worn. The bottoms and heels were scuffed and the top leather strap had a blemish or scratch. . ." In addition to things like this which create a dishonest presentation of the company, the quality of the clothing has really declined... customers are paying premium prices for clothing that falls apart in the wash 9 times out of 10 in less than a month. I'm a long time customer and don't think I'll be shopping FP anymore

Surprisingly disappointing
I ordered the riley chain belt bag and got it in the mail a day early than they said. This was shipped to Canada, great. I previously read reviews and saw a lot of bad ones and started regretting my decision but i needed this for my vacation so I just took a chance. Once I got it and opened the bag there were 2 stains that looked like someone spilled some tomato sauce on the zipper part... i could scratch that off like ughhh... whatever i still need this i dont have time to return it. THEN i realize there were there 2 dark marks along the top of the bag on the suede which DO NOT COME OFF. This bag is white and these marks are dark grey. But I have no time to return it, i need this for my trip. On the website the bag looked more chic than it is, i got it and it looks cheap like I I could've gotten something better at Ardene or Michael's.... Needless to say, not gonna order from them again.

Sent wrong items out and then when request to send correct items they only sent one of the three that was requested. Eventually told that a refund would be provided for other 2 items. Terrible customer service, unreliable and no offer for discount to re purchase after all of this messing around. Will not shop here again.

Very high return cost
Ordered from NL website. Had to wait 2.5 weeks for order to be delivered - promised 5-10 working days- and had to return item to USA at cost of €30. They should make this clear on their website.

If you get a $50 promo coupon and return item to store it should be honored! Period! This is a great store and very expensive, but with that being said it should be more organized and there should be no kinks or confusion with coupons and exchanges. Ridiculous policy!

Poor Quality
Ok. I have read several reviews on the quality of clothes that free People sell. I ordered two wide leg jumpers. The material looks very dull. I ordered a size medium. These jumpers were so long and the material quality is so sad. I can buy better quality clothes at Walmart. The price was $78 a piece. I don’t mind paying that much for some if I really want it. But the quality has to match the price. I also purchased a two piece top and bottom something like a jogger but the top has a split on one side and it fits like a tunic. Same issue. The color was not the same as the picture. The material was so cheap and it was not well made. I paid $128.00 for the set. Ridiculous. I returned all items. I don’t know if you are going to sell cheap clothes go down on the price.

So frustrated
So frustrated. Horrible shipping--mistake, mistakes, mistakes! I've been shopping at Free People for years because I love the clothing, but I've just given up for good. Too many errors with shipping. A couple of months ago, the wrong item was sent to me, and by the time I received it, my size was sold out so I couldn't get a replacement. Now again, today, an article was sent to me missing one half of the item (was supposed to be a sweater with an attached dress, but just the sweater arrived--without the attached dress). AGAIN, the size is now sold out so I can't get a replacement. I asked customer service if they could please just send me the missing part in a different size, but they would not. Did not even offer a coupon or discount to make up for their mistake. These are full-priced items--nearly $200 each, so I would expect better customer service and higher packaging standards. I've experienced other shipping errors over the years, too, and now I'm just done for good. BEWARE! UPDATE: Free people contacted me after I posted this, and I was surprised at the helpful offer they made: they reimbursed me without me having to return the half of the item that I received, and gave me a discount code for my next purchase. Even thought I wish this was the response I received when I first contacted Free People customer service, it was still nice to receive a fair response eventually. I was set to raise the rating here from one star to three... HOWEVER, when my husband had seen how disappointed I was about the incomplete order, he kept checking the item online and thoughtfully reordered it for me when it turned up back in stock. When it was delivered...guess what?! ONLY ONE HALF OF THE SET arrived...AGAIN!!! I returned it to a Free People store, because I was tired of dealing with the online service. And I stand by my warning to beware about ordering from the Free People website. I updated my review from 1 star to 2 stars, because I was contacted to try to correct hings after I left a review here. However, I do not trust this website to get orders correct and would recommend only shopping in the stores if you are going to invest that kind of money in your wardrobe. Otherwise it's a frustrating disappointment.

Love Free People
I am honestly stunned to read the negative reviews on here as I have been shopping with this company for years and have nothing but good things to say. I order a lot and return or exchange alot and it is always smooth. I've called regarding a few quality control issues and have been given help each time. I love their clothes, the style and fabrics, embroidery and beadwork is almost always exceptional. I would definitely recommend.

Free People have got their act together
Free People you have got your act together! After reading some negative reviews on here regarding people’s experiences with Free People, I thought I had write an honest review about Free People. Unfortunately for my bank account, I do order a lot of clothes from Free People. So I believe I have given this company a fair chance to get things right. I live in the U.K. and regularly order clothes from Free People and I have got to say that my orders have been despatched quickly, with tracking (despatched with Asendia in the USA - yes, I had never heard of them before shopping with Free People) DHL take over the delivery of the package when it reaches the U.K. I normally pay for the faster shipping option which costs £7.00 which I don’t think is that expensive to have a number of items shipped with door to door tracking from the USA to UK. I have never paid customs fees as this is included is pre paid into the cost of the item (maybe why their items are expensive) Free People normally take on average 2/3 days to despatch items, you will receive an email when an item is despatched with the tracking number (you can also find the tracking on the order on their website) Items take 3/4 days to be delivered here in the U.K. I read somewhere, that Free People is owned by Urban Outfitters so you will might get an email from DHL regarding delivery of the package and it will say it’s from Urban Outfitters. I have also used Free People’s return service. It’s free and you don’t have to send your items back to the USA. They have an address in the U.K. that returns are sent to. I have returned items multiple times and it takes on average a week to receive a refund. Quality of clothes. I have always found clothes to have been good quality and wash well. Their sizing is quite good, though some designs can be quite big (read the reviews on their site before ordering as people can leave a review to say if the item runs big or small) Free People have always sent me the correct item in the correct size and colour. The only slight negative point I can say about Free People is there should be an option to cancel items. You can cancel orders with most online retailers. I can honestly say, I would recommend Free People. It does seem they have listened to people’s reviews and got their act together. I will update this review if I do have a negative experience with Free People. Nothing negative!!!! Update for people ordering Free People items in the UK, it's fast! I ordered a top that was marked on its listing as fast delivery. Top ordered on 19.02.2019 Delivered by Royal Mail 48 on the 21.02.2019!!!!! Mega fast delivery Free People, well done :)

I’m kind of stunned at FP getting only 2 stars? Something must be wrong. I have ordered a couple of thousand dollars worth of clothing over the past 2 years, and not once has there been a problem. The pieces are always cool looking and very different. The quality has always impressed me. Maybe 3 times I had to return things because they were too large, but other than that.. this company’s shipping is great! The returns ran very smoothly, and the girls at customer service are always helpful. I feel defensive maybe because I’ve never had a problem. Someone on here wrote they could get the same thing in Walmart for $7.95!! I doubt it very much. This is what nice clothing costs these days and FP has great stuff. Five stars!! PS. You can order a very expensive item from any company.. handbags etc. and the quality isn’t always great. For the price of FP.. quality, design, comfort and prices work for me.

Dishonest
I bought a couple items in April 2019. Returned both items and received credit(minus shipping), Easy, right? WRONG!!!!!! Forward to Jan 2020, I placed an order and shortly after received an email that there was a hold on my account because I owed them money. WRONG! It seems as though they cannot find one of the items returned(credit issued to me) and I am being informed about it 8 months after the original transaction and return. FISHY! Called the company, poor customer service. Wrote the company Jan 2020, received a response a month later stating I owe money. Does not make any sense whatsoever. Poor customer service. Do not buy from this company or its affiliates. I am dismayed that this is an American Company.

Love FP but customer service could be better
I’m updating my review, because FP customer service reached out soon after I posted this and resolved my issue. I wasn’t upset about doing a chargeback, but I was upset that it suspended my account (I did receive an email saying that my account was on hold for the chargeback and wouldn’t be reinstated until I paid back the money for the chargeback). That just really rubbed me the wrong way. They’ve credited my account and lifted the hold, which is great, so now they’re definitely going to continue to get my business. —————————————————————-— I have spent ungodly amounts of money over the years here, only to be treated very poorly by customer service. Unlike many others, I’ve had mostly positive results with Lasersip. However, a month ago, they failed to deliver something. I raised an issue with FP support, who initially supported my request. Then, they said that Lasership somehow provided evidence of delivery, so I’d have to file a police report for a stolen package and also do a chargeback. I filed a chargeback and think that now my account is probably suspended, as I can’t buy anything. I think that I’m blacklisted because I did a chargeback AS INSTRUCTED, again after I’ve spent thousands of dollars yearly here. Free People has the relationship with their shippers and the power to recuperate losses on ostensibly insured packages. The onus should be on them to figure out what happened. Well, this is how you lose loyal customers, FP.

Free People “culture”
The quality, build, and aesthetic of most of their clothing is really amazing and well made. That being said, I feel like they have a lot of clothing and designs that are culturally appropriating to the Native American culture. Their use of smudge sticks and palo santo sticks are used in a materialistic way and does not respect its origins. These are sacred and these companies are over-harvesting items that are culturally significant. I mention this because of the amount of items like this I saw at the time in a FP store. I’ve been to various Free People stores and though I’ve had a lot of great experiences, a couple of bad ones have stuck with me at a Portland location. I didn’t feel like a valued customer at all. I wasn’t asked if I needed help and when others around me were being greeted I was not. The customer service there was awful and made me feel unwelcome during checkout.

Update: Shady company won’t publish my review
Update: Free People contacted me to settle this, which I appreciated. They also explained why they couldn't publish my review and it makes sense. I’ve ordered a lot of clothing from here over the years. Recently I had ordered a dress. The dress arrived with a price tag that was nearly $40 below what I paid. I had to reorder another size, because the first one was too big. The second one I got had the price tag cut off and the higher price was just stuck on top. I contacted customer service and they wouldn’t believe me and told me I won’t be issue a refund for the difference in price. Since the dress was advertised as 108 (simple beauty dress). They didn’t even owe up to their price mistake or apologized for the confusion. They just made me feel like I was lying. I left an initial review for the dress, noting the price difference. It never got posted. Yesterday I left another one. The response from free people was, it got moderated and won’t be published. This is ridiculous and so shady. Here is what I wrote: Nice dress BUT This is a nice dress, runs very large. I usually wear a Medium and got a XS. I'm super disappointed with Free People. The first dress had a price tag that said $79, whereas I paid 108. I had to reorder a smaller size. The new dress has a cut of price tag and a price of $108 stamped on top. I had left a review about it already, but it never got posted... I just chatted with their customer service and they didn't believe me and won't issue a refund for the difference. Very disappointed with FP! The quality of their clothing is often so bad, and their stuff is way overpriced. Haven’t made up my mind if I’d ever buy free people again.
