Personal attention when needed.
I made a mistake on a policy. I called and spoke with Cathy W. and I could not have asked to have a nicer person to work with to straighten out my issue. She was helpful beyond words. I appreciated the personal attention. She went as far as to even give me her ext. number so that when I repurchased the policies, I could reach back out to her and get them put back under our Agent ID. Employee interaction is key to building strong relationships with the people who use your services. We are a travel agency and will continue to quote your product. Thank you for your help.

Travel policies only cancelled within 10 days of purchase
A travel insurance policy was purchased for a European vacation. However one person in the group has been hospitalized since June with no sign of a release in sight. After seven procedures, ICU, multiple medical problems continuing to develop and a long rehab in the future we have no choice but to cancel the trip. Since the cancellation request didn't happen within ten days of the issuance of the policy there will be no refund. So if you have a policy with this company and experience a life threatening health problem it must occur within 10 days of issuance. This is absolutely ridiculous. I didn't realize that Trawick is so desperately in need of money! This issue was addressed by Trawick staff and a refund was issued after they received verification of cancellation of the trip.

Everything was worked out
Our trip for this week was canceled due to a medical emergency. Everything was canceled without penalty - except the travel insurance, since the cancellation date had passed. I had to provide a bit of paperwork, but the insurance was canceled and should be credited back to the original credit card. I would use Trawick, again, since they were reasonable about the problem.

Lack of activities that can be covered
Very disappointed in the lack of activities that can be covered under Safe Travel Int Saver (the only policy offered to me as a UK resdient) Even swimming is an extra cost which is just ridiculous. No options for scuba at any level or other usual holiday related activities even at extra cost. Real shame as the policy would be very competitive price wise.

Good Support
Travel Insurance taken with Trawick over a year ago. Three times we cancelled our flights due to health issues and received credits from the airlines. Customer service reps have been great throughout. Since we do not know when future plans will work, they offered to refund the premium and then did it which will simplify things until we rebook.

Initially, when I called the Customer Service number, I was disconnected before I could hear the company greeting. I tried calling other numbers on the site but had same success. Not sure if a problem with my phone service or Trawick's as it was not resolved. However, I emailed their general 'Info' email address asking for help processing a refund for my policy premium. Kathy Wilson answered my email promptly and provided the information items I needed to submit to get started. I sent her the items she requested, and she took care of my issue promptly. All resolved and very appreciative for Kathy's over-and-above efforts for me! Four stars because of phone disconnect issue.

Failed to process claim
Purchased insurance for a trip, 4 days beforehand my father died unexpectedly (death of immediate family member was covered under my plan). Instead of my dream vacation to Costa Rica, I had to fly across the country to plan a funeral. In doing so, I didn't have the foresight to cancel my Costa Rica flight and a volcano tour, which they were nonrefundable anyway. Big mistake. It's been 6 months and Trawick/Nationwide has not processed my claim because they keep asking for proof of cancellation without refund, which I don't have. After multiple emails and calls in which I explained the situation, sent them the obituary and credit card statements proving I was in the US paying for a funeral, still nothing. I have now asked for at least a refund of the amount I paid for the insurance since they have failed to fulfill their contractual obligations.

Great insurance if you don't actually file a claim.
I purchased travel insurance from Trawick to cover an upcoming trip to Spain from the U.S. Unfortunately, I became quite ill a few days before departure and had to cancel the trip. I filed a claim for trip cancelation due to illness with the required documentation, and 3 weeks later I'm still waiting on an update regarding the claim. I called and spoke with a rep who said it would take her 2 minutes to look up my claim. After about a minute, she said it's taking about 2 months to process claims and mine is under review status. Hopefully, you don't have to use the insurance you buy, but the claim process should be less than 2 months if you do. Now, I know a question to ask in the future when buying travel insurance.
