Great Mattress, Great After-The-Sale Service
Overview: I purchased the A5 king, flex-head mattress along with Flex 3 base. I cannot understand why the delivery time is so incredibly long for these, but at least it arrived exactly when they said it would. I also got the White Glove delivery and set-up. The delivery and set-up went very smoothly, especially since the mattress itself came all pre-assembled, and it simply had to be placed on top of the adjustable base(s). This bed replaced a 16 year old Sleep Number bed so we knew what to expect as far as what the mattress was going to be like, and it did not disappoint. I believe it is better designed than its competition, and hopefully it will be as durable. Here is where those 4th and 5th stars disappear. After much discussion and experimenting it was determined that there is no possible way to program the remotes for the Flex 3 base in order to have individual control of the head end (the reason for having the flex-head mattress) and to have to foot ends raise as one (since the mattress is solid across the bottom half). A call to Personal Comfort for technical help was fruitless as they said the issue was with the adjustable base. So, a call to the mfg. (Reverie) confirmed that the desired configuration was impossible with the Flex 3 base. The tech said that it is possible using the smart phone app, but that requires Bluetooth connectivity which my unit does not have. It would require 2 Bluetooth modules at a cost of $300 in order to accomplish this. So now I have an $1800 adjustable base that has 50% function. It is my opinion that Personal Comfort sold me a configuration that it very well should have known would not function as described. I say this without doubt because one of the requirements of the sale is a one on one phone conversation going over all aspects of the purchase. At this point it should have been pointed out that the mattress and flex bases I was purchasing were not compatible. And of course the bases are not returnable so I am stuck. UPDATE: Customer Service contacted me about the issue I was having and took full responsibility for the non-compatibility of the bed and base. They sent the required Bluetooth modules and stayed in touch until I had them installed (easy) and that I was satisfied. It's good to know that good customer service still exists!

We love our bed
We love our bed. Because of a bad foot I elevate the foot and my wife sleeps with the back elevated. I would highly recommend this bed for anyone. It is perfect for watching tv in bed

No complaints. Everything set up well. Nothing was missing. Only one piece was stamped wrong, but it was obvious how the foam was to be. Slept well most nights since.

Former Sleep Number customer
I have had back issues my whole adult life. I slept on innerspring mattresses, which no matter how good only seemed to last about 5 years before my back would start acting up again. It took an episode in the 90’s when I got out of bed on my knees and I had a back spasm so bad that it forced me face down on the floor and had to call 911 for the paramedics to pull me up so I could go to the urgent care. That’s when I first started looking at air mattresses and found Sleep Number (known then as Select Comfort). I have had that mattress for 20 years and during that time it worked well, but I decided I wanted to either update my mattress or buy a new one. My wife went to Steep Number, it was going to cost us $5,000 to $6,000 for an equivalent replacement, and just replacing parts was going to be around $3,000, plus the sales people at the store had a bit of an attitude that was off putting. Instead, we purchased a foam mattress with adjustable bases (package deal and on sale) from one of the big box stores. After sleeping on them for only a few nights we knew that was a BAD choice, for my back and my wife couldn’t stand the out gassing of the foam and the mattress covers are very thin almost like t-shirt material. However, we do like the adjustable bases they came with and decided we definitely wanted an air mattress to set on them. As my wife being one to search for a good deal, stumbled upon the Personal Comfort website and after several hours / days of, talking with the sales team, watching comparison videos, and reading testimonials we decided on the A7 King Flex-Head Mattress which is less than just replacing parts on our old mattress. We ordered the mattress on a Friday, the confirmation e-mail we received said it could take up to 20 business days and would arrive no later than a month after ordering. Well, the mattress arrived the next Friday and we were very excited to put it together and try it out. As I was unboxing the mattress I was very impressed with the overall workmanship and quality of the materials. My wife wanted to watch the videos for putting it together and me being, well a man, charged ahead and of course had to undo and then redo some of the steps, okay several of the steps. The only negatives we experienced was my wife went to move the gel foam comfort layer and it tore where the split was at the head of the mattress, she called customer service and they have a new one coming our way, no questions asked other than for my wife to provide a picture of it. Next was zipping in the split area, it takes a lot of patience and finesse to get through that area, but we were able to do it successfully. Third was the remotes are reversed, so the left remote pumps up the right side and the right the left side, I don’t consider this much of an issue and just swapped the remotes left to right. We slept on the bed for the first time and we both agree, this is far and away better than our old Sleep Number bed, in fact, I have so much confidence in this mattress that I already got rid of our old mattress. I still need to dial in my sleep setting, but I got it fairly close already. I used to recommend Sleep Number, but now will only recommend Personal Comfort, great company, great sales team and great service after the Sale. Patrick and Debra - Tucson, AZ

Very well made and great price!
We’ve had our new split cal king Personal Comfort bed with adjustable base for about two months now and we love it! It is very well made and we love that it can be adjusted to suit each of our comfort levels! I did a lot of research before going with this bed, but the quality and price were much better than the competitor. I made the right choice!

More complications than necessary and…
More complications than necessary and no customer service to resolve the matter. My order took over 6 weeks to be delivered. First issue was that the bed base that I had purchased was on back order (which I was informed when I placed my order that all of my items were in stock and ready to ship). Yes, the base of the bed had been upgraded.... but it was not necessary for this to take 4 weeks and 4 phone calls later to receive. I find it very disappointing when a member of customer service cannot explain why my order is delayed... I was told that I needed to wait until the order is ready to ship. The shipment coordinator that I spoke with was the only person that I spoke to at personal Comfort that actually did her job and followed up with me. Then Finally I receive my order and the "white glove" delivery assembles the bed incorrectly. Which left me to re-assemble to entire order. When I called into Personal Comfort about this issue I was asked why I didn't call back immediately because the installed could have been sent back out. Honestly, I would not want them back in my house after they screwed this up once. Now a second time? NO THank you!!

In comparing Personal Comfort bed and…
In comparing Personal Comfort bed and Sleep Number Bed, of which I have both, I do not like that it takes so long for the Personal Comfort bed to deflate. I like to deflate the Sleep Number bed while laying on it (which deflates in seconds) and then inflate to my desired firmness. The Personal Comfort takes forever to deflate and it's not worth the wait.

Customer Service Woes
Update: We were contacted by a Personal Comfort Customer Service Representative (named Lonnie), the day after the review posted (three days after our first day of sleep on our new bed). Lonnie had the kindness to reach out by email, acknowledging our earlier preference. Not only did Lonnie apologize, he also offered to scour their customer records to make sure a referral credit was given and sent us a cooling mattress cover that has made our mattress more comfortable. Well done, Lonnie. The mattress is "slippery", now, but just a bit cooler. We are considering a mattress heating and cooling system, which I believe will make this mattress absolutely perfect! No small feat for two people that need two very different mattresses. I will update my review here and on Consumer Reports when we find a system that works. Original Review: We purchased our bed during the Memorial Day Sale, so we expected a long wait for our bed due to high demand. We were referred by another customer they claimed couldn't be found in their database, so we were denied the discount and our referrer did not receive her referral credit. Wait... It gets worse. I sleep during the day (I work at night), so we had to wait for a delivery time that did not conflict with my sleep schedule for our foundation/base. The white-glove delivery included hauling away our old mattress. When we unpackaged our bed, however, a critical piece was missing - the air chambers. Left bedless, we sent an email to Personal Comfort with the very specific request they call us. Not email. Call. We knew it would be easiest to reach us at the Hotel by phone, so we left two phone numbers. As you may have already guessed, they sent us an email. Wait for it... With a request for pictures of the missing items! Fortunately I had set an alarm to wake up before their customer service was closed for the day. Unfortunately, after my very frustrated phone call, the best they could do was to email the factory that was closed already and wait for an email back on the following day. I told the service rep we were not at the location of the bed and she suggested we get someone else go and take pictures for us. What is with the pictures??? At least she did change the request to pictures of what we actually had received. The following day we did get a call from them that we could receive the missing parts the next day, if we still need them. Astounding! If we still need them? Did she think we should improvise something from the hardware store to fix the problem? We offered to drive to the factory to pick them up to save an extra two hotel days but were declined (yes, two days because the parts would not arrive before checkout and I sleep during the day). We were further politely told the management would contact us "if they decided [we] should be compensated in any way" for the four nights of lodging. The coworker that referred me was amused by my experience but has promised she will not give any more referrals, nor will I, excepting to say what terrible customer service they have. I do give them One Star because the bed is very comfortable but subtract one star for each of our four days with what I can only assume is not worthy of compensation "in any way."

The good and the bad
The good: I like the mattress and the quality of it-especially in comparison to SN beds. I can't say it makes a big difference on quality of sleep one way or other, but I like it enough. It also was no problem to put together-I'm a 50 year old woman with no help-and it was a piece of cake once I watched the videos. The not so good: When I received my shipment notice-there was no reference to the fact that the air chambers would be shipped separately and several days later. Only that "my shipment would arrive" So, like another customer, (and 2 calls later) I was left with no bed for 4 days or so while I waited for another package to arrive. The first CSR wouldn't even give me a tracking number for the package with chambers (why not?) the second rep did. I had also placed an additional call to Personal Comfort-but never got a call back. So make sure you have all your parts before tearing down your old mattress. I don't know why I wasn't advised that this was going to happen, but it resulted in me scrambling to figure out where to sleep during that time.

This bed literally changed my life.
This bed literally changed my life. I went to the competitor's store to test their beds and the video is totally true that the Personal Comfort bed is manufactured to higher quality standards and allows you to upgrade or replace parts. My sleep has improved by being able to use the zero gravity setting as well as set the air chamber to my body type/weight. The refurbished adjustable base was just like new and I added the chili pad- so incredible... sleep is so important and now that I am able to get to sleep faster, stay asleep and have better quality sleep it has allowed me more valuable time with my family/friends that I used to spend tossing and turning at night or not being able to get out of bed in the morning due to poor sleep. Best buy, well worth the cost!! I will never sleep on any other mattress.

Best mattress we have ever had!
This is the best bed my wife Lucy and I have ever had! I used to awaken to right or left shoulder pain from my old mattress. I haven't experienced any shoulder pain since I have been sleeping on my Personal Comfort bed. My wife has Rheumatoid Arthritis and is now able to sleep longer at night and awake feeling rested! This is truly a blessing!

this is a great product
this is a great product. the variation of position has reduced back pain so that sleep is uninterrupted and mornings are great. Controls are easy to use. My spouse just likes the feeling. Highly recommend.

Base and Bed good, tech and install leaves something to be desired.
The bed and adjustable base are as good or better than expected. The white glove delivery guys forgot their tools, lol, and didn't know how to program the remotes, thinking they were broken and that I would have to call customer service to get replacements. Fortunately, a quick read of the instructions and I figured it out (Shouldn't they know how to set these up if they are the ones setting them up?) Not a fan of the two different remotes, one for the base and one for the firmness setting, or the waiting for the sync of the one remote. There's room for a lot of improvement on the tech and install side.
