Their website is broken, no customer service, shipping fees
Their website is broken. I was not able to create an account, and no email was sent to me when I made an order. In other words, I had no way to access the details of my order. I have tried to contact them multiple times, but have yet to receive a single email from them. They charge shipping fees as well as charging shipping for returns. This company must spend a ton on advertising as their advertisements show up all over my social media, yet they can't put a few dollars into fixing their technical issues or customer service. After a screw up where they sent me a double order of shoes that didn't fit, it appears I am out at least $20 and I still have not heard a word from them about any of this. I feel completely slighted and will never do business with this company again. *Update: I checked both my spam folder and my trash folder. The only emails I have ever received from Xero Shoes were of the "you left something in your cart" variety. *Update #2: Xero Shoes reached out to me and helped to rectify the situation, which I appreciate.

Hi Kendon, thank you for your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear about that experience! In researching this further, we do see a couple of orders from you -- one paid by check, and the second paid by credit card. It also looks like an account was created for you as part of the normal ordering process. We also do see several of your email communications to us, each of which we responded to within 1 business day, so we were unaware our responses were not reaching you until you posted this review. We apologize, that must have been very frustrating to not see our responses! Either way, we appreciate your bringing it to our attention, and we definitely want you to have a great experience with us. Please reach out to our Customer Happiness Team again at [email protected] -- they’re now aware of your situation, and can help you exchange your first pair for a better size, as well as return the second pair for a hassle-free refund. Thank you again -- we’re here to help in any way we can!

Build Quality Issues - Prio
Firstly let me say I love the shoes. I own a pair of Prio, and bought a pair each for my two children. They've a nice wide toe box, look fantastic, are warmer than most minimalist shoes and the service is great. However, and this is a biggy, the build quality on the shoes is lacking. The stitching on the sides, where the reflective straps join with material either side of the upper, tears away and reflective straps have come loose. I have glued these back in, and glued the material back down, several times but it repeatedly comes loose. The sole has come away on all three pairs and I've had to glue it back down again several times, most recently again today on my own pair. The soles on the kid's pairs lost their tread very quickly. On my youngest child's shoes, the coloured material on the front of the upper (same material mentioned above that keeps needing glued down) has rubbed away exposing the uncoloured material underneath. I love these shoes but they need to improve the build quality and longevity of wear. I'd love a new pair however I'm currently unwilling to risk the high price to buy get them shipped to Ireland only to find the same problem. This review is only for the Prios, I can't comment on the other styles. Can send pics if it helps.

Another pair sent
I never received a pair of Xero sandals after waiting for over 2 weeks. I am happy to report that a second pair has been sent to me. It appears that FedEx is either incredibly slow or they lost the shipment. I do appreciate Xero helping me out, but would hope that they find a more timely and dependable carrier. I will continue to buy Xero shoes, but through other vendors, as I live in a remote area with no stores that carry Xero shoes.
Date of experience: August 31, 2021
Hi Robert, my name’s Andrew -- I’m an Operations Manager here at Xero Shoes. Thank you for your patience. We use a special service that works with FedEx service that makes it possible for us to offer low, flat rate shipping, which is what the majority of our customers select. Recently we discovered that the FedEx tracking doesn’t always update as it should, even as the actual packages are en route and get delivered within 5-10 days of shipment. We’re working to resolve these tracking issues. In your case, our records show that we shipped the package on August 19th, but since the package still seems to be missing somewhere in the carrier's system, we’ll reship a new pair to you today using a different, expedited shipping method. Thanks again for your patience and for being such a great customer. We’re sorry for the delay, and will get you taken care of ASAP!

I basically paid $15 to try them on.
I basically paid $15 to try them on. I bought the "returnable" Hana shoe. The pictures and description on Xero's website did not say they were basically slip-ons with decorative (non-functional) laces. I could not even get the shoe on my foot, even though I ordered one size up. So I returned them. After two and a half weeks, I finally received my refund. It was $14.98 less than what I had paid. Their customer services takes days to respond, so I guess I will just let them screw me without further attempts to get what they owe me due to their lack of clarity in the item's description.
Date of experience: September 09, 2021
Hi Raz, thank you for your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your experience. The Hana style can be worn as a casual slip-on, but the laces and huarache heel straps are indeed functional and can serve to provide a more snug fit as needed. From your feedback however, it sounds like the issue was more one of finding the right size or style to better fit your needs. Fortunately we have a wide range of styles to choose from, and we offer free shipping on exchanges in the US, so every customer can find the perfect style and fit for them! And, though we can’t offer free shipping for returns nor refund the original shipping cost, we do offer our customers a convenient way to purchase return postage from our website at a $9.99 flat rate, which gets deducted from the final refund amount. This is completely optional, by the way -- customers can also purchase return postage on their own from a carrier of their choice. In your case, you generated the return label from our site, so we refunded the full product price, less the cost of the return postage. These options are explained on the Returns and Exchanges portion of our site where you generated the return label, but we’re truly sorry for any confusion. We do want you to have a great experience with us -- if you’d like to exchange for a different size or style, we’ll be glad to give you a $14.98 store credit which you can use towards your next pair. I hope this helps, and please reach out to our Customer Service team if you have any further questions or requests.

Customer service is a joke
To be honest this seems to be the only way to get ahold of customer service. I purchased a pair of the Oswego shoes August 4th and as I received them I knew they wouldn't work. I couldn't even get my foot inside they were so narrow so I returned them. Here we are a month and a half later and I've received no correspondence, no return, no acknowledgement of any kind. I know they got to the facility because I have the tracking number and the name of the employee who signed for them so what gives?? Never again will I order from this company. Complete waste of $90.
Date of experience: September 24, 2021
Hi Janice, Thank you for your feedback, and for bringing this to our attention! It looks like we did indeed receive the pair you returned to us, but for some reason the info about this particular return was not transmitted from the warehouse to our customer service team. This is VERY rare, and we’re looking into the matter. Further, our team could not find any record of phone or email communications from you until this review, so sadly this issue didn't show up on our radar -- otherwise, we would have taken care of this for you right away! Thank you so much for your patience, and we're sorry about the issue -- we have just issued you your refund. Please email our Customer Happiness team directly at [email protected] if you have any further questions or concerns; we're always happy to help!

Ridiculous price-increase
Wanted to buy a pair of Xcursion Fusion boots from the UK website: listed as £100, but they were currently out of stock. The website was very helpful in stating when new stock was due to be delivered, so I waited. The day came and the listed price changed to £139.95. Outrageous!
Date of experience: September 28, 2021
Hi Lesley, thank you for your feedback. We can’t speak for the prices listed on the UK website, since that e-shop is run by one of our independent dealers, who set their own prices based on their own market conditions. As you may know, global supply chains have seen unprecedented disruptions in the past couple of years, causing substantial increases in both the cost to produce goods and the time it takes for retailers to receive them. In response, we and many of our independent retailers have made the difficult decision to increase the prices on certain products. We hope you understand and are still willing to give Xero Shoes a try -- we think you’ll love the natural comfort and responsiveness of our footwear! Please consider buying from your local UK businesses; we’re sure they appreciate your support. And, if there is anything further that we can do for you from the US, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected].

Not happy with the company or the shoe
Not pleased about the quality of the shoes. Definitely not pleased with customer service. It's like a 1 man operation, who takes orders, customer service and packs and ships or something. While they claim they 'usually' ship much more quickly they'll always have an excuse why not (covid, sales, blah blah). Just tell it like it is. Maximize revenue and minimize expenditures. Send a photo of your dog in the email thanking people for being 'patient,' (unwitting though their compliance is). Could not see a way to leave a review on their site, although they have thousands upon thousands. Who writes those?
Date of experience: October 03, 2021
Hi Marge, thank you so much for your review. My name's Andrew -- I'm the Operations Manager here at Xero Shoes. I'm sorry to hear that your experience with us was not as you had hoped. Of course you are welcome to leave a review on our website as well. It can be a little easy to miss if you haven't done it before. On each product page, just a little below the place where you would choose a color and size, there is a series of tabs running horizontally across the page, starting with “Product Description” on the left and ending with “Customer Reviews” on the right. Click on the “Customer Reviews” tab and then on the “Write a Review” button slightly below and to the right. Having said that, I'd like to see how we can improve your individual experience with us, but I was having trouble finding an order under your name. Would you mind reaching out to [email protected] and addressing your email directly to me? I'd be glad to help in any way I can. Thanks again, and I look forward to hearing from you!

I was really excited about these shoes
I was really excited about these shoes. For me, minimalist hiking shoes are the only way to go. I love the feel and comfort of the shoes, but I am a little disappointed in the quality. After about six months the soles are coming apart from the shoes! This should be the main focus of a hiking/outdoor shoe! I love the way they feel, but there is no way they will last another six months! I would like to buy another pair, but i am wary! I have been trying to write a review on their website, but curiously the submit button isn't working...

Hi John, thank you so much for your feedback, and we’re glad to hear that you love the feel and comfort of our shoes! We’re sorry to hear about the issue with your current pair. We wholeheartedly agree with you about the importance of having durable footwear that you can trust on the trail, and we hold our manufacturing teams to extremely high standards. Manufacturing issues are rare, but occur on occasion for individual pairs from time to time, so we proudly back all of our products with a 24 Month Manufacturer’s Warranty. Disappointing, failing more on the major sale points, they slip in the mud and are not waterproof
Updated Review. Another update, 1 year on. The boots are advertised as "waterproof", they are not waterproof, leaking like a sieve now. After more than a year of wearing them on a weekly but not daily basis, I would not buy them again. They fail on the two points as an outdoor instructor that I bought them for. If you don't need them to be waterproof and you can put up with the fact that they 'do' slip in the mud and on certain types of pavements. Then generally they are okay. I work in the woods as a bushcraft instructor. I wanted an outdoor non-slip pair of boots that were better than my Freet Mudee's for the winter. I wanted better support higher up the ankle, more warmth in the winter and a non slip sole in the mud. On recommendation, I bought a pair of Xero Xcursion Fusion's. After a year I am getting less pleased with them. To start with they were comfortable straight away. They feel more structured and supportive than my normal Freets (I love my Freets) , I thought they would be ideal for autumn and winter especially. They are advertised as having "excellent grip and traction". I disagree with that statement. They are better than the Muddies though. The Xero's have a good general grip, on some wet muddy slopes. 'But', not on others, today I slipped on a bank and went full down. It would not have happended in my proper Walking Boots. I have also found an issue on the street. They do not grip on wet smooth stone slabs, they were 'very' slippery, indeed. On a wet forest walk they gripped well, (no mud) until I came across some larger stones where I could feel some slight slippage. To summerise, The Grip and Traction on muddy slopes is not brilliant. Such a shame. Generally otherwise they are okay in the wood. (Update, not any longer leaking like a sieve) For the Winter I have put in a felted wool inner sole that I make from a sheet of felted wool. I have put it under the Xero inner sole, they are so roomy. Helps to keep my feet much warmer. I am liking the fit of the boots the more that I wear them. Update, they are now failing, not waterproof at all.

Exchange policy
I ordered my shoes through Klarna. When they arrived, they were too small so contacted Xero to make an exchange. I was instructed to place a new order. So, I did, by the time that my 2nd pair came I had made 3 payments via Klarna. That next week a 4th payment came out for the 2nd pair of shoes. I contacted Xero to inform them that this was an exchange and not a purchase. The CS rep stated this is the policy. You will need to place another order for exchanges, and you will be refunded. Mind you this a payment service there shouldn't be a refund because the money has not been taken yet, okay. In the meantime, all payments have been made for the one pair one shoes. 3 payments for the 1st pair & 1 payment for the 2nd pair equals four payments made, right. Xero receives the shoes that was too small and refunds all the money back to me, WHY. Causing confusion for Klarna & myself. Only to recharge me again. You had the money, and you gave it back. Then turn around & bill me again. I love using the payment services. But Xero may want to revamp their exchange/return policy and procedures. Outside of that my shoes are nice and comfortable.

Hi Mzz Queenie, first, we’re glad that you find our shoes comfortable, and second, thank you so much for your feedback on our returns and exchanges process. We do our best to keep everything simple, so each pair has its own transaction. Theoretically, whatever you had paid to Klarna would have been refunded after the 1st pair was returned, and you’d start from scratch with a whole new payment schedule from Klarna on the second pair. It does sound like it got a little confusing in this case, though! Please feel free to email our Customer Happiness Team directly at [email protected]; we’d be glad to look into this further to make sure all of your questions are answered, and that everything has balanced out appropriately. Thanks again for your feedback and for being a Xero Shoes customer!

Xero Xcursion slippery when wet
I bought a pair of Xcursion boots on the 26th November 21 and they arrived to Ireland on the 4th December from the EU store all good! I went with the advice to size up as per the website sizing and am happy with comfort and fit. I wore them outside for the first time and was suprised at how slippery they were when worn on a wet concrete pavement walk to the local shop. Metal manholes are lethal. They seem OK on the same surface in the dry. It may not be helped by low temperatures here at the moment. These are the least grippy shoes I have ever worn on this type of surface. These replaced another trail shoe I had which performed much better in the same circumstances. The Xcursion are much better on natural surfaces but I believe the sole compound is possibly a little firm for smoother hard rock surfaces on a trail in the wet. Time will tell how they wear. I may have to resort to only putting them on when I'm about to walk on the trail. Had I realised this I would probably have bought another shoe from Zero. I am now wary in case some of their other soles are a similar compound. Unfortunately you can't try them outdoors and determine this before returning. A shame considering this is an expensive shoe. I'm docking stars because of the grip and posting here so others don't make the same mistake. Otherwise I would have been a very happy customer. FURTHER UPDATE: I emailed Xero and they offered to let me return the shoes for store credit or 70% refund because they were worn. I'm very happy with the customer service and the offer however, I have decided to keep the shoes for their intended environment. I will look at other xero shoes for urban use!

Hello Matthew, thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for your support! We’re glad to hear your Xcursion Fusions were feeling comfortable and fitting well! Those boots are built to excel on the trail using our FeelTrue® rubber outsoles for increased durability with aggressive and spaced lugs ideal for off-road use. That said, those same features which make the Xcursion Fusion soles so well suited to the varied terrain of rugged trails also make them a little *less* ideal on something smooth, especially if it's also slick like wet metal and concrete. For those cases, one of our non-hiking options like the Prio, HFS, or 360 would be more suitable since they would have a flatter tread, providing more surface area to make contact across the bottom of your soles. Hopefully that helps! Feel free to let us know if you have any questions, and please don't hesitate to sport your Xcursion Fusions on the trail! :)

Seems like a good company that has a product many people like. I cannot join this group. These shoes made my back feel like it was being stabbed with each un-cushioned hard strike that my heel made on the pavement. Yes, they are like walking barefoot. Shame on me for being foolish enough about my own body to think that walking barefoot on hard floors and pavement could possibly be good for me. If you are having problems with back and feet, be very careful buying these shoes; they may not work for you as they sure don't for me.

Hi Ray, thank you so much for your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear that your experience was not as you had hoped. Thousands of our customers have appreciated the wider toe box, flexible construction, and increased sensory feedback that our footwear provides, but transitioning to any minimalist footwear can take a little time to allow one’s body to adapt. So, while we believe that anybody can enjoy our footwear, we strongly recommend a careful approach based on an individual’s own unique situation, with deliberate focus on natural movement, listening to one’s body, and allowing as much time as needed to adjust. We have some great information on our website to help customers transition to minimalist footwear (or barefoot movement), including this blog post here: https://xeroshoes.com/barefoot-running-tips/how-to-walk-barefoot/. Thank you again for your feedback – we hope you give minimalist footwear like ours another try when you are able, and either way, wish you the very best on your journey towards optimal movement!

Return policy is really bad and I told Xeroshoes this. On top of the shipping costs, they actually charge you for returning the shoes as well. It doesn't make sense! And the shoes aren't that great either, I sent them back the same day..
Date of experience: December 17, 2021
Hi Naj, Thank you for your feedback, and for giving Xero Shoes a try; we’re sorry to hear that you didn’t feel they were a good fit for you. To clarify about our return policy: We never “charge people to return shoes to us”; but it is true that our refunds don’t cover the original shipping costs, nor are we able to cover the cost of shipping the products back to us. We do, however, offer free exchanges for our US customers! Regarding returning products for refund, we DO make it possible to purchase a return label directly on our website for a flat $9.99 rate, which is then deducted from the total refund amount. This is completely optional and typically the same price or less than the cost of purchasing return postage on your own. This may be what you are referring to, and we apologize for any confusion. Thank you again for trying us out, and please reach out to our team at [email protected] if you have any further questions or issues!

Refunds are a Process-not all money is given back
I purchased the Phoenix leather flat and received it quickly. The shoe did not fit so I sent it back. I emailed support and they said give it 10 business days… still no refund (20 business days later) and I’m unable to get someone on the phone or email. After writing review I received response and refund in a couple hours. There is now a $96 refund but I’m losing out on $14.98 in total; lost $5 on shoe somehow and the rest shipping/tax I presume? I paid $99 for the shoes why was only $96 given back? In all the response was better after leaving my first review and I finally received some of my money back. Still does not give me faith in this company.

Hi Kerri, Thank you for your feedback, and for bringing this to our attention! We pride ourselves on responsive customer service, so we're happy we got this resolved asap for you! To clarify our return process, we do offer free exchanges here in the US, but we aren't yet able to cover the original shipping costs for returns. Likewise, we do offer an optional return label through our website for convenience for a flat rate of $9.99 which is deducted from the total refund amount. This would be completely optional and typically the same price or less than the cost of purchasing return postage on your own. These options would be explained in the Returns and Exchanges portion of our site where the label is created, but we're truly sorry if there was any confusion. We do want you to have a great experience with us, and if you'd like to exchange for a different size or style, we'll be happy to provide a $14.98 store credit for you to use towards your next pair. Hopefully this helps, and please do not hesitate to reach out to [email protected] if there's anything else we can do for you.

Time-Sensitive "Fit Guarantee" *including sales* strained by thin supply chain
I love my Xeros and wanted a second pair in boots. During the Thanksgiving sale (November), I ordered the same size that had fit me before and they arrived just a little too big. I returned them to be exchanged in a new order, but they were constantly out of stock. "No worries," I thought. "They honor the sale price of a shoe if it's being exchanged when the alternate size is out of stock." The fine-text catch? As I found out today, they don't honor it past 45 days. Fine, I get the principle of people not just calling in a sale price whenever they want and would be totally fine with it if they ever actually had regular stock....but that's the catch. They don't. They also don't take preorders and there's not even a way to sign up for restock notifications. You have to manually check back and HOPE you land at a time when your shoe is back in stock. I've gone so far in my efforts as to regularly check back for stock several times a week since November. Let me restate that. I've been doing this for a QUARTER. OF. A YEAR. Finally, finally finally--February 3rd, the boot restocks in my size at the same time I'm checking the website. I get that seemingly almost every manufacturer is struggling with supply chain issues and a little extra patience and flexibility are needed from everyone, but I didn't get that from Xero when I called today despite MONTHS of trying to accommodate their frankly poor system. I could even forgive the somewhat primitive infrastructure if their customer service had at least made the effort to be flexible and help me given the circumstances, but nope. Very cut and dry, "we can't help you." It shouldn't be this hard to buy a friggin' boot. I make an effort to be a good customer. I tip 20% (or more), I don't yell at people just trying to do their job, I stay patient. Today, I am annoyed. My time is wasted, I'm frustrated, and I am questioning my continued patronage. They're not the only zero-drop shoe out there.

Hi Mathew, thank you for your feedback, and thanks for being such a great customer! We craft our policies carefully to balance flexibility and business sustainability in mind, but it has indeed been a unique challenge given the current supply chain issues, and we can see how frustrating this experience must have been in your case. Ultimately, our goal is to get everyone into their perfect pair of Xeros and keep them as lifelong customers, so, we’d be glad to take a closer look at your specific circumstance. Would you mind emailing us at [email protected] and addressing it to Jordan -- we'll be glad to revisit this for you!

cute company, questionable quality
i love my pair of daylite hiker ev that i got a few years ago. they came apart quickly (the sole came off after 6 month of not heavy wear) but i m a crafty person so i manage to glue and stitch them up whenever needed. when looking for a waterproof shoe i thought i ll give xero a try again, hoping they would last longer. so i went for a pair of xcursions. very painful to break in, a trip to the shoemaker for softening didn't make it easier. finally i could wear them painfree. in the beginning they were waterproof as advertised but only about 8 month. i got replacement because the leak was caused by the sole coming off. the replacement is the new model, xcursion fusion. the sizing is different, so the first pair was on the big side, the new pair is too long. both my retailer and i tried to get in touch with xero about the size issue, no answer for weeks. finally i decided that i probably won't ever hear from them about this and went outside with the big shoes. it started raining, my feet stayed warm and dry but oh boy are those shoes slippery on wet rock! not what you'd expect from "A fully-waterproof hiking boot that’s ready for extreme adventure." (as advertised by xero) why make a fully waterproof hiking boot and not give it a sole with good grip on wet surfaces? the advice from xero when i inquired about the slipperiness was to walk slow. my review of the xcursion fusion on their website must have been swallowed by the bug that eats bad reviews. don't get the xcursion fusion if your extreme adventures include walking on wet rock or plain old city pavement. update: hello person at xero who hijacks reviews for advertisement, thank you for taking the time to answer my review. i am an experienced hiker and rock climber and i will NOT sport the xcursion fusions on a trail ever again. i did that and i slipped multiple times because of their slippery soles that don't have good grip on wet rock. i also slipped on city pavement which is rock not concrete where i live. i lost trust in these shoes. hopefully that helps clarify my experience!

Comfy shoe but fell apart quickly
Bought a pair of Xero Prio shoes a couple of years ago and really enjoyed them at first. They did however begin to fall apart within the first couple of months and within 6-9 months were pretty much unusable due to a hole in teh sides and the sole unfortunately. Very comfy shoe however and I like how they look, just disappointed in the durability.

No customer service bad quality.
Loved the shoe but after only wearing the shoes roughly 20 times the lace holders on the Prio snapped off. I was looking to just exchange for another pair. Wrote the company and never got a reply. Luckily I bought from REI so I was able to exchange these shoes for another brand. Would not buy again.

Our family did like the shoes but the…
Our family did like the shoes but the soles started falling off after 5 to 8 months. We bought 4 different pairs for the 4 of us. My daughter's soles completely came off, mine the sowing is starting to unravel, my husband's and sons shoes soles are starting to come off as well. Now to be fair we bought them secondhand BUT they were almost brand new. We also aren't marathon runners or use them heavily and we did not use them during the winter because we have harsh long winters (they are sneakers) so you have to account for that. So I am a little unsure on what to do. We liked them, they were comfortable but the quality is questionable. I am willing to try again brand new to see if that makes a difference but the reviews here and their return policy makes me take a hard pause. We have a big family and I would love to buy some for my other kids but these are pricy and that would be a lot of money. If they lasted several years then great but it seems like they would last maybe 8 months with moderate use and then if I have problems they may not honor their policy or I may have to spend precious time unnecessarily trying to get their attention. I don't have time for that. I hope their company does well. Just not sure I will buy their shoes again.
