HbA1c Test Easy, Inexpensive, & Worth It
I had the HbA1c test done because it wasn’t something ordered by my doctor and I wanted to know my number. The test was easy to do and had great instructions. I received the results much sooner than expected and the information with the results was great. Very inexpensive also.

Great information, and I will follow up with another test in a few months.
Great information in an easy to understand report. The results came in faster than I thought they would, and it was easy to mail the sample. The item used to draw blood out of the finger did bruise my finger and was quite painful. But that may have been my fault. The test includes guidelines for reaching one's optimal levels of omega 3s and a link to calculating how much more to include in one's diet.

Overall recommended
It's great to have a test for Omega 3 levels in order to know if I'm taking an adequate amount of fish oil. This test was pretty easy to do and only took a little over a week to get results. I didn't like the lancet much, since it was a lot stronger than the ones I've used to test blood sugar, and it caused too much bleeding, and left a bruise (and discomfort) for a few days. I do plan to retest in about 6 months, but next time I won't use the supplied lancet.

Result not explicit
I like the service of getting my blood checked for the omega index, it is not something my doctorwould facilitate. Doing it at home and sending via mail is very convenient. So why not 5 stars for me? The result was only in a colour chart wit an arrow. I would have liked text with my result and the meaning in words. Now I had to make out the meaning from the color to where the arrow was pointing. I got a lot of emails with promotion and explaining the relevance of omega 3, so I expected more of my personal email. The waiting time was almost a week longer than expected.

Our apologies for the wait time on your Omega-3 Index results. Unfortunately the sample was slow during transit to our lab — the sample was collected on Oct. 7 but we didn't receive the sample until Oct. 25th. Results were sent to you Oct. 31st. As for your results, besides the information on the report, we are unable to give specific recommendations due to regulatory restrictions. However, our YouTube channel has a lot of information about test results. This particular playlist might be helpful: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnqaRjlVt3icnl3gevJfMQmsBqx-vaeNc We appreciate your feedback! The OmegaQuant Team

The process was very slow
The process was very slow. I think it took 3 weeks from posting until result. Then there was a link to an omega 3 calculator, which did not work. So late result and no advise.

Quick Results
The HbA1C dried bloodspot results came in very quickly after registering and mailing out the test sample in December! The only issue I had was making the 3 blood spots, I use my fingers alot for daily testing and couldn't get a drop to form and fall perfectly. However, the results were great and I will do it again in 3 months.

About
OmegaQuant is an independent, CLIA-certified lab that offers nutritional & health status testing to researchers, clinicians and the public. We test:
- Omega-3 Index
- Vitamin D
- Prenatal DHA
- Mother's Milk DHA
Our goal is to offer the highest quality analytical services to researchers and to provide simple tests of nutritional status to consumers, with the ultimate purpose of advancing the science and use of nutrients to improve health.
Our Story
Dr. Bill Harris, a leading expert in omega-3 fatty acids, founded OmegaQuant in 2009. He obtained his Ph.D. in Human Nutrition from the University of Minnesota and did post-doctoral fellowships in Clinical Nutrition and Lipid Metabolism with Dr. Bill Connor at the Oregon Health Sciences University.
His interest in omega-3 fatty acids began with his postdoctoral work when he published his first study on the effects of salmon oil on serum lipids in humans (1980). Since that time he has been the recipient of five NIH grants for studies on the effects of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) on human health.
He has more than 350 publications relating to fatty acids, including omega-3s, in medical literature and was an author on two American Heart Association scientific statements on fatty acids: “Fish Consumption, Fish Oil, Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Cardiovascular Disease” (2002), and “Omega-6 Fatty Acids and Risk for Cardiovascular Disease” (2009) both published in the journal Circulation.
Dr. Harris co-invented the Omega-3 Index in 2004 and made it commercially available to the research community and the public in 2009. To date, the Omega-3 Index has been used as the standard measure of omega-3 status in more than 200 clinical studies.
Dr. Harris is also a Professor in the Department of Medicine in the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota.
Dr. Harris moved on as OmegaQuant’s President in late 2020 to establish the Fatty Acid Research Institute (FARI), where he will go back to his roots of conducting research on fatty acids and health.
