They do all they can to not pay
They do all they can to not pay. I have submitted many claims & had phone conversations. they continue to want unreasonable new "proofs." All this for a very small amount of what ElAl doesn't refund. I will never use them again & will recommend the same to others.

Squaremouth IS Tinleg and crooks
Squaremouth IS Tinleg. be aware that the two companies are owned by the same people, so when "shopping" for travel insurance on Squaremouth, you are actually on Tin Leg's site. it's a scam, pure and simple. After denying my claim for trip cancelation i have submitted an "appeal" which they have been sitting on for weeks. even though i have a written document which clearly states the tour has been CANCELED, they continue to insist that the trip was interupted, and that is thier defense. any excuse to not pay. I will update this when they finally respond.

Horrible Company to deal with
My trip was to Israel in Nov of 2023. Terrisoum was a covered item and it's Jan 9, 2024 and the claims department keeps saying that the determination has not been made by the underwriter. These people are not worth the headache. Going back to Allianz for my next policy!!!

Total failure …
We had to cancel a cruise at the last minute due to a sudden illness. Filed claimed in mid September 2023. It's now February 2024. Still be asked for info that I either sent previously or could have been notified was missing in September. I have asked multiple times to speak with someone, just get emails asking for same information without explanation. Do NOT use.

Do not use this company
Do not use this company. I travel all over the world and always purchased travel insurance. I have been lucky to only ever had the need to make a claim twice, once with another company, who were wonderful to deal with and then with Tin Leg. Tin Leg, is slow, they found every reason to deny the claim. They denied both my and a friends claim who I was travelling with. We had the same flights, hotels, expenses, etc. However, my friend was an attorney and challenged their denial after reading their policy, they then approved her claim, while still not approving mine. It was not until, she assisted me that they decided to approve my claim (I still have not been reimbursed 5 months later) due to a claims adjuster making the process as difficult as possible. It is a shame that you have to have legal representation to have a legitimate claim paid out.

Don't Use Tin Leg Travel Insurance Company!
In October I fractured two vertebra in a boating accident on a remote island in the Galapagos. There was no hospital and no MRI available so my condition was not diagnosed until I returned to the US. However, the pain of two fractured vertebra was so severe, the next day I could not climb into the small prop plane that was the only way off the island. I had to rebook my flight and it took two days before I was able to move enough to get onto the plane. I asked to be reimbursed for the cost of the new plane flight and was told I had to have a letter from a doctor saying I could not leave on the appointed plane, but the doctor did not know my back was broken because he didn't have the equipment to diagnose it, so no letter was possible. I provided documentation of my condition when I returned to US and had an MRI but Tin Leg refused reimburse me for the changed flight.

Filed a claim days after my return
Filed a claim days after my return, took almost 4 months to get a final answer and get paid and I am an attorney! The back and forth was duplicative and just stalling.

Waste of money and time!
Waste of money and time! After having to cut short trip to middle east due to Hamas invasion on Israel, I had to alter travel plans that were "supposed" to be covered by my expensive Tinleg travel insurance. It is now 5 months since I have submitted my claim, 5 (five!) different interchanges with their claims department wanting more and more information. The latest request was to see a copy of our boarding pass from our shortened trip!!! Shameful!

SCAM COMPANY
Refusing to pay out on a legitimate claim, after taking 4 months and asking me repeatedly to send the same information over and over. They required me to send my bank statements, which I'm wondering is that even legal? I've filed a complaint with the NAIC and the state of Florida. I'm looking into finding a local consumer investigator to take a look and report on them since so many people have been scammed.

Repetitively asking for same…
Repetitively asking for same information, claims filed last year and still asking for same. If at all possible for no star, or broken star, would award same. Perhaps they have all the time to waste asking for same information, but I QUIT!!!

Tin Leg is Tin Leg is a Squaremouth Scam companies that do what they can not to pay; Do NOT use them Squaremouth Scam companies…
Squaremouth IS Tinleg. be aware that the two companies are owned by the same people, so when "shopping" for travel insurance on Squaremouth, you are actually on Tin Leg's site. it's a real sophisticated scam. They do all they can to not pay. I have submitted many claims & had phone conversations. they continue to want more documentations about the same factual road and airport closures in Peru in 02/2023 with very clear directions from the Peruvian and USA government of Level 4 Emergency with "Do not travel" recommendations- all of the info- was provided. I even went to the Green library at Stanford to provide all needed articles with specific roads (more than 50 listed; with names of main highways and airports in details). All of the above are covered circumstances per their policy. Asking this company to reimburse only less than $3000 because all other expenses were refunded by hotels and other companies due to emergency on the ground in Peru at that time. I have provided all requested information and documentation multiple times. I was sent to the Zero Complaint Department. They did zero about my complaint other than having me send them all the documentation again. My calls get routed to voicemail or I get sent to another agent who’s going to “take care of it today”….then nothing again as of 5/2024 (more than a year later). So much time spent for nothing. This company is a Real and sophisticated scam who are faking great reviews on their website. Be aware and stay away from them

Intentionally difficult to receive a payout
My experience trying to obtain reimbursement for a canceled trip was awful. After testing positive for COVID and canceling the trip, I requested for reimbursement of the nonrefundable expenses. The claims team requested very specific documents that were impossible to produce from the companies that we had made purchases from. By doing this, they claimed they were in the right to deny the claim. I would warn anyone from purchasing from them. The small price you pay for their insurance only provides a false sense of security when you later discover they will go to great lengths to avoid reimbursing any trip cancellation costs.

I wish I had read these reviews prior…
I wish I had read these reviews prior to buying this trip insurance. Everything that everyone is saying in their reviews are true for me too. We purchased insurance for a trip according to the value of it. After an overnight delay of a 17 night trip, that required us to buy a hotel night, I submitted the claim for 1 night due to delays. I have submitted everything I could, and unable to obtain documents that were not possible to obtain from the airline, Tin leg have been giving me the run around for 4 months. I travel A Lot, and have A Lot of connections. I will steer everyone away from this company! They refused to pay $60! I will file a complaint with my credit card company for services not rendered!

Sent in a claim
Sent in a claim, it was left at the post office, never picked up by the claims adjusters. When we called them and told them their response was, " we don't go to the post office that often". The package had been sitting , waiting to be picked up for over three weeks! It had one day left to be picked up before being returned but they made no effort to go get it. According to my post office account it was returned but only to the main post office in Dallas and not to us in California. All the hospital records, forms, receipts , etc. are now lost and have to be collected all over again. To say we are unhappy is the an understatement. This is not a company to be trusted.

A total scam
Absolutely a total scam. Why did I purchase trip interruption/cancelation insurance if they’re not going to pay it out. Bad Weather canceled the first leg of my trip, to which the airline agreed and paid without question, a refund on my flight ticket. Not these people, they are a rip off and a scam. All documentation requested by them has been provided… Four times! Their policy was very clear about covering exactly what happened to me, but no, endless requests to provide the SAME information again and again, and again and now they want it AGAIN. They intentionally delay and frustrate you so that eventually you will give up on trying. This is the biggest scam going. They are not legitimate, don’t waste your money. I’m also going to contact the Better Business Bureau and my states attorneys generals office about this. It’s obvious these people operate a scam and refuse to help anyone even with a legitimate claim. It’s nothing but a criminal enterprise skimming money from unsuspecting and trusting travelers. Don’t believe me, look at the other three dozen reviews, exactly the same.

Great policy- until you actually need it
I'm submitting this review here because Tin Leg/Squaremouth refused to post it with their other "unbiased reviews" on their own website. We've bought travel insurance for years for all the same reasons you are contemplating purchase now. When our folks were elderly with health issues, we protected vacations in case they got sick. Now we are older with health issues of our own to consider. Look closely at most of their five-star reviews from customers who purchased a travel policy but never actually had to make a claim on one. Like them I've had five star PURCHASE experiences over the years, fortunately never needing to make a claim. In January we traveled to Vietnam, insuring our trip with a Tin Leg Platinum policy (sold by Squaremouth) for $1,733. The end of our journey was marred by the delay and then cancellation of our final flight on what became a 49-hour grind from Saigon to Charlotte, North Carolina. Our policy covered "trip delay maximum of $150 per day per insured." Our delay was well over the six consecutive hour minimum required to make a claim on the policy. Our only extra expenses were two small airport meals totaling $47.18. The monetary cost of delay was insignificant but initiating the claims process appeared simple, so I decided - what the heck, let's see if these policies really cover anything. I started a claim with a company called Robin Assist Claims and then submitted the requested documentation: receipts for meals, original flight boarding passes, revised boarding passes, and then new passes for the new flight. Several days later I received a letter from Terri H, senior claims examiner for Robin Assist, requesting a letter from the airline stating the reason the flight from Washington Dulles to Charlotte was delayed. On page 24 of my policy, it clearly states common carrier delay as a qualified event for reimbursement with no conditions. It's almost impossible to contact a major airline and get a human on the phone, much less request or receive a letter explaining a flight delay. This was fairly clearly a delay and denial tactic designed by Robin Assist to stymie and frustrate claimants, hoping they go away. Well, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED guys. I recognized this scam for what it was, cut my losses, and sucked up that big $47.18. So this was my experience seeking less than $50 in damages. Imagine trying to claim thousands of dollars on a canceled flight, cruise or vacation? Clearly Tin Leg and their associated claims agents recognize the primary function of insurance companies is the collection of premiums - NOT The payment of claims. The silver lining here: no more expensive and worthless travel policies from this company for us! We will happily blow that extra money on a few good meals or a nicer hotel. You too should consider redirecting your hard-earn travel dollars towards something with actual value.
