Many delays, eventually cancelled
Sunglassess with Rx ordered April 30th with 10-14 delivery commitment. Got multiple recommits over e-mail from a rep who didn't take a particularly customer-centric attitude. She was more interested in arguing about days then solving any problems. Eventually got escalated to a supervisor who left me a voicemail saying my lenses had failed inspection 5 times. How is that even possible? I don't have a complicated prescription. More promises. More delays. Eventually they agreed to just give me 100% refund on June 9th. I'll give them credit for that, but it wasted a lot of time in the process. STAY AWAY!

Hello Jason, I'm so sorry to hear of the issues with your Ray-Ban sunglasses. I do see that the lenses did fail inspection a few times and we did have to request the lenses be remade. We can understand this is frustrating. I see that the order has already been cancelled and you have been refunded in full. I do want to clarify that the reason this happens on some orders and not others is due to the frame shape, material, style, and size that is chosen for that particular order. It is not always the strength of the RX, although some frames are completely out of range for certain RX's. This is not the case with this order, but some frame/lens/RX/base curve combos are more difficult to make and they do have to remake if it does not come out satisfactory. The lab was doing everything they could to get your set of sunglasses perfect, but we agreed the delay is excessive and the order was cancelled and refunded. Very disappointed!
I ordered glasses back in Jan and as of this date have not received my glasses. First, they sent the Ray Bans, 2 pairs, that weren't the color I ordered. So, the 3rd pairs I was charges additional $150. This brought my total up to approximately $600. No deal! I should have bought them retail. A pain from the get-go.

Hello Susan, I am so sorry for any confusion you may have regarding your exchange orders! I took a look at your orders and this review and it seems you may think that we charged an additional amount for the first exchange. This is not the case! Your exchange order invoice shows that it costs +/-$150 but this was an even exchange - the funds were transferred from your original order. You weren't charged any amount. To clarify, you purchased a pair of Ray Ban prescription sunglasses in January with the color of Top Tr Red On Orange Havana (1275A5). You received this item within the originally quoted ETA, but called after you received them and requested to exchange the frame color to Tortoise (902). The color originally received was the Havana color originally ordered, there was no error made. We let you know that the color was correct to your order but that we can exchange it to your preferred color. We exchanged the color of the frame free of charge in March. We mounted your lenses into the new frame color and refunded you the difference of the frame price. You were not charged an additional $150 for the exchange. You called after about a month of wearing those glasses saying the glasses did not fit right. The frame size did not change with the frame color change. There was no error made on the frame size. However, management approved a second exchange for preference issues as an exception, if that was what you wanted, but a lens fee would apply. You returned the pair and are now in the process of that second exchange. You are restyling completely to a different frame brand and new lenses. This second exchange was not free due to prices differences and the prescription lens fee, so a balance was due for this second exchange, but it was less than $100, not $150. You approved the additional payment on 5/19 and your exchange order is processing. There was no additional payment tied to the other exchange, only this last one because you are doing a complete restyle. I hope this clarifies things. horrible customer service
horrible customer service, my order was made on May 13th and it was delayed twice and they weren't able to confirmed where was my order coming from. The sunglasses that I order indicated made in Italy and I do not want to get a product from China. Thats False advertising.

Hello Amir, I reviewed the product you chose to purchase and that item was coming from one of the overseas facilities, which was going to cause a bit of a delay. However, the description or frame information does not indicate or advertise that those sunglasses come only from Italy, so there is no false advertising. The Luxottica brand, Ray-Ban, like other high-end fashion and designer brands, is distributed by the manufacturer from both Italy and China. They use the same manufacturing process, materials, and quality standards, but are manufactured in different locations. FramesDirect.com is not in control of which country the product you ordered is manufactured in, but rest assured that those who purchase will get the same quality, regardless of the origin of the product. All of our Ray-Ban products are received directly from the Luxottica manufacturers, and all of our products are verified as authentic. I see that you have already cancelled the order and have received a full refund. I am sorry that we could not guarantee where the product was coming from for you, but we appreciate the feedback. Unexplained Delays
Delays, no explanation, allo customer to place expensive orders with no warning that items would be backordered before placing the order, unlike any other retailer that notifies you BEFORE paying that the item is back ordered.

Dear S, I am so sorry to hear that your frames were on backorder and that you felt there was no explanation of the delays. To clarify, FramesDirect.com does stock some, but not all items listed on our website. Most items are shipped to FramesDirect.com directly from the frame brand manufacturer facility when you place your order with us. Our website does provide the average estimated processing and shipping times for our products, which is 11-14 business days for prescription eyewear, which is accurate for a very high percentage of our orders. However, there are times when the manufacturer may not advise us that an item is on backorder until the item is actually ordered. This usually happens due to the demand out weighing the supply - supply can be depleted too quickly before the manufacturer can notify those who order from them. Unfortunately, there are still more backorders than normal due to the pandemic still affecting the manufacturing facilities and shipping. I hope this clarifies some things for you, but even so, we do know that delays are very frustrating, which is why your optician offered a discount if you wish to continue with the order, but you also still have the option to cancel. This was one of the worst experiences…
This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had buying a pair of frames and lenses, first of all guy's these clown's takes all of 30 days to process an order, I personally emailed them my presciption and they still got it wrong, than they tried to charge me an additional $152 dollars to correct the problem they created, please folks, the customer service is horrible, and they get your money and act as if nothing else matters, please shop somewhere else, they are a bunch of rude unprofessional rip off's ! Try Designer Frames Outlet, you'll be galde you did .

I'm so sorry to hear that you are not happy with your FramesDirect.com experience. I reviewed your order and I believe there is some confusion here. The additional $152 that was being requested is not to fix an error - there was no error made on your lenses. That is the upcharge to replace the single vision lenses that you originally requested to the upgraded Progressive lenses that you now want. Your prescription was written for multi focal lenses (Progressives), single vision distance, or single vision near - all three. When you placed the order, your optician called you to confirm the lens type you wanted. You confirmed with her that you wanted single vision lenses for distance. This is what was made for you - the lenses were made correctly to your prescription for single vision distance. When you received them, you determined that you actually did not want single vision distance, but you wanted multi focal lenses. You discussed this with your returns optician and understood that the change from single vision to the multi focal lenses will cost more (it is an upgrade) and that because this change is a preference issue, we would apply 50% of what was already paid for the lenses to the new lenses. The cost for Progressive lenses is higher than single vision lenses. I do apologize if this was misunderstood. When we advised you of the price to replace the single vision lenses to multi focal, you decided that you did not want to pay the additional amount owed. We, unfortunately, cannot give you Progressive lenses for the single vision lens pricing. If you had originally chosen the multi focal, the pricing would have been higher originally as well. Currently, you have requested a refund for your returned item. We have not processed that yet. I will have the Returns Manager contact you as soon as possible regarding the possible options you have. Ordered my lenses and they took nearly…
Ordered my lenses and they took nearly a month to arrive. When I tried to cancel my order after they told me how long it would take, they said they’d charge me 50% of the order even though I tried to cancel the order the same day. When the lenses finally arrived, they accumulated visible scratch marks after one day of use. I bought the anti scratch protector for them as well. I’ve tried speaking with numerous customer representatives, even a operations director in order to return these glasses. They said they’d still charge me 50% or for me to send the glasses in the get evaluated. Once again leaving me without glasses for however long. Overall, awful customer service experience. Quality in the lenses are also awful. I’d advice you go anywhere else. The money you’re saving buying from them is money wasted because the quality is so poor.

I see that you have been purchasing from us since 2018 and have had several previous prescription eyeglass orders with no problems - I'm so sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the quality of this most recent order! We definitely don't like to see that with our long time customers. I'm sorry you feel the order took too long to arrive. We have made no changes to our processing times for prescription eyewear. This processing time for this order was actually less time than your last order that you placed in 2020. This order was placed 4/13 and it shipped on 4/28. It shipped a little early, a little before the original 11-17 business day ETA that was provided on 4/15. The general return policy for preference issues for custom made prescription eyewear does incur a 50% lens fee, which is what it sounds like you were informed about when you reached out to customer support. However, if there is a warranty issue found after an evaluation, the warranty policy does cover replacements. I will inform the Returns Manager of your concerns. Legitimately the worst pair of glasses…
Update: They did send me new frames and the rep that I talked to did everything in their power to make me a happy customer and that’s all I can really ask for after this experience. Really hoping for a better outcome with this new frame. The worst pair of glasses I’ve ever owned in my 20+ years of wearing glasses. Bolts continuously coming out. I’ve brought them to a service center twice and I’m at a point where they won’t even stay on my face anymore. The frames are 50 shades of deformed and there’s been no roughness so just clearly cheaply made

Lenses Are Very Poor Quality
Frames are decently priced. Lenses are too. Although the lenses have more glare than any other eyeglasses or non prescription sunglasses I have ever owned. So many scratches in the lenses in 2 mos into ownership as well. So many more scratches than other eyeglasses or sunglasses I have owned, $ to $$$. Their offer was to sell me another pair of the sames lenses at a 20% discount to 'fix' the ones I have. I won't buy from them again in anyway. **UPDATE, Frames Direct replied about how I should take care of my glasses and it is my fault they are scratched. No mention of how much they glare so much Very glad they told me how to take care of my glasses as well. Must have just got lucky the last ~25yrs w/ glasses before their helpful advice. Adjusted down to 1 star as a result. **2nd UPDATE: Jennifer (Framesdirect rep giving me patronizing responses) the lens scratches are NOT the reason for the glare. They had less than acceptable levels of glare and reflections from the front and behind before I got the few small scratches I have. Maybe if someone from the company actually contacted me, like they said they would, I could sent them pics of the glare issues and the scratches that are not being the causing factor. I am an engineer, i understand manufacturing and root cause analysis. The issue is the crappy soft lenses and cheap, poor quality glare coatings. They are just cheap lenses. Keep digging the hole if you want.... **3rd UPDATE: The squeaky wheel gets the grease. I voiced my full displeasure over email to Herman, The Customer Returns Operation Mgr, and he called me. Sent the glasses back in for review at Herman's offer and on FD's dime. Getting new lenses on FD with Duraclear coating on them this time. I am hopeful

We provide a case and cleaning cloth to help protect your product while in your possession. It is important to always keep your glasses in their protective case when not on your face. Less than happy with the customer…
Less than happy with the customer service aspect. I was told my prescription was not valid even though I uploaded the card at time of purchase that had prescription on it. Thinking all was good I recieved an email the next day after purchase and because I was at work did not meet the 24 hour cancellation policy and they charged me 10% stocking fee. Save yourself time and money and go elsewhere. Would not recommend at all.

Just got off the phone with FramesDirect Representative about my RayBan RB 6275 readers. She had told me my "lenses only sale" was not possible because my frames were substandard. FrameDirect's Representative's email said "Unfortunately, during our inspection of the frame, we do not feel it can withstand the pressures of insertion and removal of new lenses. Therefore, we are returning your frame to you." My RayBan frames use a screw to hold the lens in the frame. No pressures involved. My frames are RayBan and I bought them from Frames Direct. FrameDirect's representative told me I would have to buy new frames. This is an upsale. I complained that the frames were from Frames Direct and that they were admitting to selling junk "due to the quality of the frame that was sent, we would not be able to make lenses for it." She is talking about Ray Ban frames. She finally offered to continue with replacing the lenses and it would cost me $180+. The last set of replacements I bought for the same style frames cost $84.95 on 2/25/2021. I received my frames back from Frames Direct on 7 April 2021 in fine condition. No broken or missing parts. Nothing substandard. This has been all about upselling.

Dear John, I reviewed your order history and it appears that you returned a frame to us that you have had for almost year, requesting that we make new prescription lenses for your frame. The frame was in perfect condition when we shipped it to you almost a year ago. The frame you sent to us now has a screw missing, scratches on the frame and shows other signs of being in a very worn condition. After having the frame for almost a year, it is not uncommon for a frame to have scratches, but we cannot make lenses for your frame in it's current condition, because it is too worn and missing a screw. The process of making prescription lenses for frames is very delicate and your frame would most likely break if we put it through this process, given it's current condition. Additionally, missing a screw is also a problem. We are not trying to upsell you on a new frame in order to get more money. We make lenses only for frames that our customers ship to us everyday, but we do have to reject those that we know we will not be able to successfully do without compromising the frame. I know this is not what you want to hear, but it explains what has transpired and why. I am glad that you have found a frame style that you love so much, but I am sorry that, given the current condition of the frame you sent to us, we cannot put prescription lenses in it. We are happy to work with you on purchasing a new frame and lenses, if you so choose. I am sorry for your dissatisfaction and I do hope that you have a wonderful remainder of the week. Do not recommend

As you may or may not know, we are located in central Texas and as you can relate, since you live in Texas as well, we were closed down due to the inclement weather and no power. We recently reopened our distribution and shipping facility when the winter storm passed and as you can imagine, we are playing catch up.. To add to the delay, when we received your product from the brand's manufacturing facility, it did not pass quality inspection and we had to reorder a new frame. We won't ship it if it isn't in perfect condition. I appreciate your patience thus far and again, i am deeply sorry. Bait and switch. Check BBB first
Edit: I wish I had reads the bbb complaints about this company. They pull a bait and switch when you order glasses. They DO NOT have the frames. It takes them WEEKS to get the frames. THEN the send them to the lab. Then they send them to you. CHECK THE BBB complaints! Was told after I ordered the glasses that they would be take up to 8 weeks to arrive. Could easily order them on Amazon and go to Walmart quicker. Bad supply chain management practices here. Here is the bait and switch email you get once you order your glasses: The eyewear you selected is on a slight delay from the manufacturer. We apologize for this delay and thank you for your patience. We have special ordered your frames so that we can get them to you as soon as possible. The estimated arrival time for your frames to our facility is on or before 3/16/21. Many times products come in earlier than expected. Once it arrives, we will send your frames to our lab for processing. Please add 8-11 business days for lens processing plus shipping. **this is like 8 weeks for glasses** Then they offer you free “upgraded” shipping. You don’t even have the frames!!! Why are you selling something you don’t have!!

The bad service, bad customer support, bad shipping time
The bad service I ever received was here. This company send me the frames 2 months ago and send me the WRONG prescriptions. I send back, they make the mistake and thanks of that I had to pay with my money the return label!!!! I ask to cancel my order and they charge for the lenses! That they send me wrong. Don’t buy on this place! Buy better on your local stores or another website... I think the also needs to contract another or more personal for the customer service...

However, when we sent your new item to you, the Customer Service Optician made a human error and entered one of your spherical powers wrong. That is our fault and I am deeply sorry. It rarely ever happens, but we are all human and can make a mistake. Sadly, it happened on your order and we emailed you and attempted to call you, but the phone number you provided was asking for a pin number and then hanging up on us. If I could give negative stars, it would be at least a -10. Sent me defective frames. Lenses falling out. Sent them back. Spoke to a rep on the phone who "promised" she would expedite the order. Nope. They have done nothing but give me the run-around. Fifteen days later, I STILL HAVE NO GLASSES. But I am getting more run-around from THE most loud-mouthed customer "non"-service rep. Save your money. This company absolutely sucks balls.

I ordered a pair of frames from you on…
I ordered a pair of frames from you on the 13.12.20 I’m yet to receive them and I have not been kept up to date by your company on there whereabouts. I’ve called frame direct twice about this issue and was told a manager would contact me, which has not happened. I had to make a 3rd call over 2 weeks ago when I finally got to speak to a "manager" which consisted of a disgraceful interaction where I was told that there is nothing that could be done and I was made to feel that it's my responsibility. I was given two options either I wait for them to get back to me and possibly redeliver my frame or pay a restocking fee for something I have never received. This is extremely unacceptable and shows a high level of disregard for your customers and the "services" you provide. I would like to have the frames delivered or a full refund in the next 10 days or I will take this further. Edit: side note - informed the "manager" over 2 weeks ago that the information provided by their chosen delivery company is incorrect as I am a key worker which means the delivery location given cannot and has been closed. Is it the buyers or the sellers responsibility to provide and adequate delivery service

As our manager informed you, the delivery carrier states that they made several attempts to deliver, but claim they did not have access to the place of business. Ended up ordering somewhere else
Tried to buy inserts for an oculus quest 2 vr headset. This company is recommended on the oculus website. They refused to accept my prescription twice, and asked for my PD which isn't needed for the inserts. I gave up and went somewhere else. Communication was terrible.

Horrible customer service!
I’ve been a Frames Direct customer for many years. I can’t believe how horrible the customer services is. They sent a me a pair of glasses that came with unpolished lenses and one was loose as well. I asked for a refund and was given the runaround through a long line of different representatives and emails. I paid them for a service and they failed to provide that service. In the end they charged me a restocking fee. Unbelievable! I paid for their mistakes. Never again will I buy or recommend Frames Direct to anyone.
