My trip was cancelled
My trip was interrupted because United did not fly on account of the.October 7 th. attack on Israel … I had to look for other ways to come to Chicago , U.S.A.Travelex did not pay me , yet , what our contract stipulates… (. 100/percent of insured trip cost ! )

My trip to Israel was cancelled
My trip to Israel was cancelled. I therefore cancelled the policy and requested a refund of the fee paid for the policy as it wouldn't be used and there would be no claims. It took multiple 'layers' of service representatives to get to someone who could instruct me as to what was needed. I followed the instructions - then they added more requirements. Bottom line - they have no intention of refunding the fee or even part of the fee.

We purchased insurance for our Israel…
We purchased insurance for our Israel trip. Israel came under a Terrorist attack 6 days before we were to leave. Quest was our travel company and and Quest is 100% nonrefundable, which is why we purchased the insurance. After sending all kinds of documents to TravelEx requesting a refund I have still not heard from them. Still unsure if we will be getting a refund. That trip was a lot of money and we were unable to go for circumstances way beyond our control.

Very good claim process—additional comment—
Filing a claim due to a cancelled trip was easy to do. Filling out the claim form and downloading the necessary documents was also very easy. Communications regarding needed data was via email. The only complaint I have was that communication throughout the review process was nonexistent. It would have been good to get a weekly update on the status of the claim review. My claim was fully covered and the money was direct deposited into my bank account.

I purchased travel insurance from…
I purchased travel insurance from Travelex (Subsidiary of Birkshire Hathaway Insurance) for my trip to Germany. I missed my return flight from Frankfurt due to delay in secondary security inspection. I had to rebook my ticket thru Condor airlines at my cost. I assumed these are the kind of risks and surprises why you want to buy a travel insurance policy. I submitted my claim, but the adjuster rejected the claim right away with an excuse "Delays due to Governmental regulations are excluded”. They sent me a policy with details of exclusions. They seem to have more exclusions than inclusions. I appealed, but that did not help. I filed a complaint with the department of Insurance and they were not able to help me get anywhere. Beware before you buy any insurance policies.

Loyal customer for over a decade, now looking at other options.
Our claim took a couple weeks past the number of business days stated as the maximum. Then when a correction on dates was needed it started the process over instead of our reviewer working directly with us, even though we responded immediately to the request. This made the process take twice as long as a process that was already beyond the maximum posted review time. We now have a dispute for the claim results because of how the reviewer calculated the trip delay amount incorrectly. We have been loyal customers for well over a decade (maybe two decades) and have dealt with several claims in the past. All of which were handled quickly (on-time) and with no dispute of coverage. Due to this last experience we are now looking at possible options for other travel insurance in the future.

Communication ?
They paid out after months of silence. In this day and age communications and visibility into business process is really important not a black hole. I would not use travelex again for this reason. Higher level of communication is required in every business, including insurance, regulated or not. AIG, Chubb, etc don’t seem to have problem communicating clearly with customers.

I am happy to hear that an additional claim payment has been made for the unused portions of the tour. I needed to make changes to my policy…
I needed to make changes to my policy due to work conditions while overseas. The communication delays and general difficulty in connecting with a person as well as Travelex policy on changes made this difficult. My work changes quickly and I need to be able to make changes to my policy easily.
