Tin Leg Insurance - Not Responsive
I have had 3 trip insurance claims open for 6 months. I have provided all requested information and documentation multiple times. I was sent to the Zero Complaint Department. They did zero about my complaint other than having me send them all the documentation again. My calls get routed to voicemail or I get sent to another agent who’s going to “take care of it today”….then nothing.

Do not trust Tin Leg
My family took a trip to Maui this year, and I purchased comprehensive Tin Leg travel insurance policy months before our trip. Unfortuntely, our reserved condo was hit by a flood and we had to rebook another condo on short notice at extra cost. We filed a claim with Tin Leg to cover the extra cost, submitted all requested paperwork. However, Tin Leg denied the claim saying they do not cover natural disasters (apperantly flood caused by rain is a "natural disaster"). Why would a travel policy not include coverage for flooding? When we obtained the quote, Tin Leg specifically included hurricane and weather as a line item for provided coverage. Like most people, we based our policy purchase on the list of provided benefits, not thinking that the actual policy would include contradicting language. That flood caused by rain would be classified as a "natural disaster" and thus be excluded seems duplicitous to put it mildly. In retrospect, I feel misled by Tin Leg and would not recommend this insurer.

Wow, Really Tin Leg
I bought travel insurance with Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. On my Vacation I had a Nile River Cruise booked and "Viator/Trip Advisor" canceled my cruise without explanation. Tin Leg is denying my claim because they don't have a reason why it was canceled. I would think the emails stating the canceled cruise would explain it all. I'll be back to update this review if anything changes. As of 7-3-2022 Tin leg is not communicating at all to resolve what I bought this insurance for. I'll be back to update any Positive or Negative results.

Beware!!!
This is probably the first time I’ve ever written a review, but I felt compelled to because this whole experience has made me so angry and others need to know…. I would NOT recommend using this company. From beginning to end, the claims process has been a living hell: 1) they don't call when they say they are going to call you 2) they ask you to submit paperwork, sit on it for a couple of weeks, and then request additional paperwork, then sit on it more, and then ask for the same paperwork again 3) once you think you've provided everything, they again sit on things for a couple more weeks and then they tell you that the files you’ve uploaded aren't in the correct format 4) finally, I had to be proactive and contact the claims adjuster and it's just more of the same, but with a human ignoring you vs. dealing with a portal 5) after months of dragging their feet, constantly asking for additional documents that have already been submitted, saying they tried to call you back, but your voicemail didn't pick up, saying they didn’t receive email attachments...then ABSOLUTELY NOTHING still happens 6) I finally, had to do the "give me your supervisor's name and number" thing, which I hated doing So after 5 months of dealing with delays, dishonesty (dare of say lies?), and incompetence, I finally got my claim check. Don’t be fooled by the positive reviews because these people most likely never had to file a claim. Honestly, I think most folks just give up, but I'm meticulous, organized, and have a flexible enough schedule where I could take this "part-time" job on. What a colossal waste of time jumping through all these hoops. I couldn't imagine a company doing a worse job. They should be ashamed of themselves. Simply put they are the absolute worst and I wouldn’t wish this experience on my worst enemy.

Tin Leg: Great trip insurance provider if you know you will not need to file a claim!
I picked out Tin Leg’s Gold policy with CFAR coverage for a complex trip that included seven days of cycling in the French mountains. But when I had to cancel my participation in the trip a few weeks before the departure date (due to a medical issue requiring immediate surgery and a potential cancer diagnosis), I did not expect my claim to sit with Tin Leg and their claims administrator Broadspire for **months**. After over six month, I am still waiting for my claim to be processed. If you enjoy sending email after email, if you like uploading the same forms over and over again, if you enjoy not having recourse and feeling helpless, then Tin Leg is your provider! Seriously though, I suggest you investigate a trip insurance provider’s track record in paying out claims before buying a policy. It is perhaps more important than ratings of their policies and add-on options. I will never use Tin Leg or any provider outsourcing claims to Broadspire again.

Poor service from Tin Leg
I purchased a travel policy for a very expensive safari to Tanzania. I posted a small claim, about 5%, of the total amount insured for extra expenses incurred when a regional flight from Kilimanjaro to Nairobi was reschedule 2 hours later than planned and would have caused me to miss my flight back to the US. I had to reschedule on a different airline an earlier flight. I found out about the change by email the night before departure and spent 3 hours in the bush trying to get through and have never been able to. I have submitted the requested information 4 times to Tin Leg and each time they ask for more including policies from the small Kenyan airline which I have explained doesn't exist. I provide a letter of explanation from the Travel Agent in S Africa that booked the whole trip verifying the details of the problem. The ball keeps moving. Do NOT insure your trip with Tin Leg.

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY
What this company does is tantamount to theft. They happily took my money for the policy, and they have never paid out on my claim for delayed luggage. They passed me off to some third party for processing, I have supplied all of the requested documentation, and NOTHING - SIX MONTHS LATER. They just hope people will go away and give up? Disgusting. If you call, they "escalate" your case, but still NOTHING. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY.

Tin Leg is terrible if you have a claim!
I was quarantined in the Galapagos with Covid. When I filed my claim,Tin Leg kept requesting the same information I already provided, did not answer one of my voicemails, canceled my claim once, assisted me in no way with my claim or their process, and took 11 months to complete the process. I believe they would have been happy for me to go away without any payment. I will never use them again!

It took 13 months to finally get paid…
It took 13 months to finally get paid from Tinleg. Our experience was similar to those described previously. They never review requested documents; they just ask for the same information over and over. I contacted Squaremouth Zero Complaint many times. Finally was reimbursed. It almost wasn't worth the aggravation and time it took to call or email. I guess that is what they're counting on. I can't understand why Forbes gives them such a high rating.

I want to give no stars
I want to give no stars. This is the worse company I have ever dealt with. People purchase travel insurance as a protection in case something goes wrong. People do not purchase insurance just to make a claim. Over the many decades of having insurance, I fortunately have not needed to make a claim. I did however needed to file a claim with Tin Leg, or whoever they are. In late July, 2022, I landed in a small town in Canada for a fishing trip at 8:30 in the evening. My bag, clothing and gear did not make it. I needed to be on a charter flight to my final destination early the next morning. If I missed that flight, I would have lost my whole week at the lodge. I had no coat, no rain coat, no clothes, no fishing gear. My bag eventually arrived 4 days later on another charter flight that cost considerable money. Needless to say, the first four days of my trip were ruined. I filed a claim in early August, 2022. You don't deal with Tin Leg. They send the claim to a company called Broadspire. Countless unreturned emails and phone calls. Countless amount of time wasted trying to get through to someone who could help. This dragged on for months. Finally, yesterday (eight months later), I talked to someone in Broadspire who denied my claim. Tin Leg did nothing other than to say to contact Broadspire. The other interesting thing about this awful experience is that Tin Leg does not use Broadspire anymore. Wonder why? Tin Leg and Broadspire, I believe are companies under Square Mouth Insurance. DO NOT USE THEM. Their customer service stinks. I agree with the other reviews. They do not do anything, hoping you would give up. They happily take your money but will not respond to a claim. What a disgraceful group of companies. I could go on and on about this unbelievable disgusting experience with Tin Leg and Broadspire. JUST DON'T USE THEM!

A Ridiculous Claim Process
I booked a trip from the East Coast US to New Zealand & Australia for February of 2023. The trip was great, however, I did have to make some last minute arrangements to miss Cyclone Gabriel, which was forecast to make a direct landfall where I was staying. So the day before my scheduled departure (originally Monday) from Auckland, to ChristChurch, I left. (on Sunday) This meant, that I missed a scheduled tour on Sunday, and still had to pay for the Sunday Night Hotel in Auckland as the cancelation was less than 48 hours. Of course I also had to pay for a new night in Christchrch and an Airline ticket change charge. I have a Gold policy for the trip. I called Tin Leg Claims, and asked if any of this would be covered - Thier response is I would have to submit all the required paperwork and then they could look into it. So here is the list of what I have had to send to date: Full Trip Cost and Payment there of: Sent a copy of the invoice from the Travel Agent showing payment if full not accepted - must send bank statement or credit card statement showing withdrawal of funds Required copy of round trip Air tickets Required copy of original tickets to Churchill Required copy of new tickets to Churchill Required copy of credit card payment of change fee sent letter from travel Agent showing non refund for Auckland Night, and for missed tour must send actual Hotel invoice showing same Must show bill from Tour showing no refund Sent copy of Credit Card Bill showing payment for new Hotel room in Churchill Must send actual Hotel invoice showing same I am currently waiting for the last Hotel invoice - so I have not reached a conclusion yet. However, it is true that they are very polite on the phone, but your claims adjuster is never in, but they will them a message that you called and have questions - emails are kind of answered, but no explanation in forthcoming. What amazes me is that I don't even know if I have a claim - you would think so I kind of hope so now that I have gone thru this nonsense, and I do feel for those that have pressing claims because the amount of paperwork I think is ridiculous, and time consuming.

Tin Leg Travel NONInsurance
I have bought 5 Tin Leg travel insurance policies and only made a claim on my last trip. Traveling to Houston I became very ill and spent 6 days in the hospital. For the past 6 months they have asked for alot of the same information over and over and there is no way to simply call and talk with your insurance person. So you email and email giving them all the info they want. Finally they told me to show them what I've paid and they will let me know what they will cover. I have an over $50k bill from the hospital - I was very ill... I'm also not in a position to pay $50k. They are saying the policy states they only reimburse. So after 6 months of communication I have paid for nonexistent travel insurance. The policy stated it covered up to$250k in medical expenses, but never that you paid it first. I've started a claim with Better Business Bureau and next I'm going to look into a class action suit. I'll bet others will join in. I travel several times a year, next time I'll use Allianz.

Great until you have a claim
My 6th and last policy with TinLeg. Great until you have a claim. Sent in all paperwork requested. 20 minute phone interview. More paperwork requested and sent in. Still not good enough. Have spent so much time searching and providing evidence for a small medical claim on a cruise. Still they need more, how do I prove I was on cruise and on the flight home. Finally gave up. Not worth the time and effort.

It has now been almost 3 months and I…
It has now been almost 3 months and I don't have my claim money. There is no way to talk to your claim representative and they dont respond to email or phone calls and even support tickets marked urgent sent to managers etc. "you will get your claim money within 15 days of us receiving your information" yeah i guess that could be true except when they come back week after week and ask for the same crap over and over again this process drags itself out. Absolutely shameful what they expect customers to put up with and have zero accountability or care for you. Avoid at all costs!

Absolutely do not use this company!!
Absolutely do not use this company!!! We purchased a Tin Leg policy through Squaremouth for an anniversary trip to Tahiti. It was this past July. The flight crew went on strike and we were stranded in Tahiti for several days with no way to get off the island. We called Tin Leg several times for help/clarification and the only thing we were told was to make sure to keep all receipts, etc. and to file a claim once we got home. We did this and immediately submitted a claim when we finally returned home. After having to go through a phone interview, several weeks of emails going back and forth asking for everything multiple times, a few more phone calls and emails, they denied our claim stating that we could not be covered because our return date was after the date we had covered. Ummm...yes, we were stranded! Apparently, we are supposed to insure trips for extra days just in case we get stranded is what I have been told (even though we had trip interruption/cancellation/and delay coverage). We appealed the decision and were given the same answer. The only cost they covered was lunch on the day that we were supposed to leave. $44 out of the $900+ we submitted. We appealed to Squaremouth who claim that they have a Zero Complaint guarantee. We were given the same answer. Basically, buy trip insurance as long as you are certain you are not going to need it.

Don't waste your money, time, or energy
Just don't bother. I bought insurance for a trip that was canceled at the last minute because of a medical issue. I spent months going back and forth with them, sending them any documentation I could get, spending hours on the phone trying to get said documentation, only for them to tell me the documentation I provided wasn't what was required -- and they told me this again and again, even when I got them specifically what they asked for. This went on for three months. Ultimately, they sent me an email saying that they couldn't give me any of my money back because (a) the trip was canceled with less than 48 hours notice, and (b) my doctor (who wrote multiple letters to them trying to explain the problem) didn't explicitly state that he recommended the trip be canceled. The fact that the trip was canceled less than two days before I was due to leave is something they knew from the very beginning, so they literally wasted hours and hours of my time (again, for three months) running me ragged to get "documentation" that they didn't even need. I know insurance companies thrive off of avoiding paying out to "clients," but to string people along like this is just needlessly cruel. "Cancel for Any Reason benefit" my ass.

Waste of Money and Time - Don't Use this Company
I purchased travel insurance from Tin Leg Travel Insurance to cover our family trip to Scotland. When in Scotland all three of us contracted Covid-19. I set up a telehealth appointment with my primary care provider, She confirmed the diagnosis of Covid-19 and since my husband and I are over 60 years old, she recommened that we return home to the US to assure adequate treatment if necessary. I immediately called Tin leg and talked with their support staff and I asked what I needed to do to file a claim. They told me just come home and submit the claim then. When I got home, I promptly submitted the claim with a letter from my healthcare provider verifying my illness. I then spent 11 weeks corresponding with the Tin Leg Claims associate, providing every single piece of supporting documentation, receipts, confirmations of cancellations of accomidations, bank statements, etc. During this time, never once did the associate indicate that further verification of our illnesses was required. After providing everything asked from me, my claim was denied. I spent 40 hours providing documentation when they could have told me up front that the letter from my primary care provider was not acceptable. I was sick for a week after returning from Scotland and I could have gone to urgent care if more documentation was required. My claim ($9,000) was denied. I was shocked. I honestly felt misled and manipulated. My concern is that this company, Tin Leg, was not forthright with me. They wasted my time and that of their claim adjuster. In the end I do not feel that Tin Leg conducted business with me in an honest, competent and ethical manner. Puchasing this policy was a big waste of money and time.

Tin Leg Stonewalling
It took 5 months to settle my claim. My trip to Cornwall from London was interrupted by a nationwide railway strike resulting in my missing the first 1-1/2 days of my guided tour, and spend an extra day and hotel night in London. After filing the initial claim and all of the documentation requested, there was a delay of many days before additional documentation was requested. Then, more documentation, some of it already sent. Calling was worthless because the reps who answered could provide no information and would not transfer me to a either the claims adjuster or supervisor. I did finally speak with a supervisor who promised follow up. Twice, I was told that my claim had been approved and then was told that it was a mistake and more documentation had to be provided. The adjuster also made several errors that I had to point out and provide still more duplicative documentation. One delaying tactic was to demand copies of my credit card statement proving I had paid for something to which I had already sent receipts marked paid. Another meant to be a showstopper was proving that I was physically onboard the train for which I had a ticket and I could verify that I had reached my destination. I believe that the delays and misinformation were designed to discourage me from pursuing the claim and give up. The claim was finally settled because I persisted and provided copious written proof of the validity of the claim. Days of my time wasted. Avoid Tin Leg. If you have insurance with them, read the entire policy very carefully and keep every single receipt and communication.
