I ordered two Continental Trail King tires that were advertised as OEM tires, which means they would be without manufacturer packaging and would therefore have a lower price. No issue there. The issue I had is that the tire was advertised as having Continental's Black Chili compound and was the ProTection version, both of which are found on Continental's highest spec mountain bike tires. The picture on the website showed a logo that fit with Continentals most recent branding, along with a sidewall pattern that matched what was on Continental's website. The tires I received had a logo matching the older version of the Continental Trail King, a tire that was updated in 2019. The side walls on the tires I received were also the same as the older version and did not match the pictures on the website. I found a review from 2015 that had pictures of the tires that matched the sidewalls and had similar logos. The top of the line Continental tires are all made in Germany (Black Chili/ProTection) whereas the ones I received were made in India. They also had a harder rubber compound than what I have on a Maxxis Aggressor and the tires were stiff and crackly feeling when unfolding. They felt like they've been sitting in a warehouse for a few years and have dried out. The sidewalls felt thin for something that was advertised as having Continental's highest level of protection. In short, while I am glad that BikeTiresDirect.com will be processing a refund for me, I am disappointed at the waste of time due to an extraordinarily misleading product listing. The bottom tier and frankly old tires that I received are so far from what the product listing stated that I can't understand it to be anything other than false advertising. I was really excited to be riding quality tires at a great price, instead I get to deal with shipping them back and waiting for a refund. A real shame as the other tires I purchased were fairly priced and the shipping, processing, and purchasing were excellent, but I cannot in good faith continue shopping with a retailer that posts such misleading product descriptions.
