Worth the money - Yes
I started with Sram NX on my bike. I liked the gearing but the RD is soft like butter. It sticks out like a roadie in the woods. At $125 it only takes a couple of replacements to make you switch to Shimano.
I went with XT 46 tooth cassette. The gaps in the climbing gears didn't work for me so I bought the Box cassette and love the gearing on it So if you spend most of your ride in the 4 larger gears you should buy the Box cassette, you'll love it.
