The kit is easy to use
The kit is easy to use. The results are pretty quick and easy to understand. They give suggestions for how to get your omega 3 value up if it is too low, as mine is.

Great selection of testing available
Ordering the testing was an easy online process. The test kit arrived in less than a week. The instructions were very clear. I like that I was notified when they received my test. The results came faster than I expected. They also sent a follow up email - without me asking - to give a further breakdown of one of my deficient areas along with guidelines of what type of supplement and suggested doseage…along with a reminder of how often to retest. My family physician will NOT do most of the testing that is needed to know what many of these defiencies are and how to supplement. He just tells me if I think I need something to go to a local store and buy an over the counter products….which most are inferior to Dr Fuhrmans products.

Test Kit Directions
Test kit is simple. However, the kit instructions do not match the website instructions. Specifically, that the blood droplet should be visible on the reverse side. Test results were promptly reported. The portal should allow you to view former test date results or have the ability to graph progress over time.

Easy to do.
It was easy to do - well after I had a friend lance my finger - lol! But everything is explained well and when I had a question, my email was answered promptly. I haven't analyzed my results yet but looking forward to doing that soon.

First timer OmegaQuant
Ive listened to Bill Harris on several podcasts. His explanations of the science behind the omega's in our diet are easy to follow and understandable. Learning that the omega-3's on your red blood cell membranes is a more accurate measure than a standard blood test was helpful. Packet instructions very easy to follow and results were returned quickly.

About
OmegaQuant is an independent, CLIA-certified lab that offers nutritional & health status testing to researchers, clinicians and the public. We test:
- Omega-3 Index
- Vitamin D
- Prenatal DHA
- Mother's Milk DHA
Our goal is to offer the highest quality analytical services to researchers and to provide simple tests of nutritional status to consumers, with the ultimate purpose of advancing the science and use of nutrients to improve health.
Our Story
Dr. Bill Harris, a leading expert in omega-3 fatty acids, founded OmegaQuant in 2009. He obtained his Ph.D. in Human Nutrition from the University of Minnesota and did post-doctoral fellowships in Clinical Nutrition and Lipid Metabolism with Dr. Bill Connor at the Oregon Health Sciences University.
His interest in omega-3 fatty acids began with his postdoctoral work when he published his first study on the effects of salmon oil on serum lipids in humans (1980). Since that time he has been the recipient of five NIH grants for studies on the effects of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) on human health.
He has more than 350 publications relating to fatty acids, including omega-3s, in medical literature and was an author on two American Heart Association scientific statements on fatty acids: “Fish Consumption, Fish Oil, Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Cardiovascular Disease” (2002), and “Omega-6 Fatty Acids and Risk for Cardiovascular Disease” (2009) both published in the journal Circulation.
Dr. Harris co-invented the Omega-3 Index in 2004 and made it commercially available to the research community and the public in 2009. To date, the Omega-3 Index has been used as the standard measure of omega-3 status in more than 200 clinical studies.
Dr. Harris is also a Professor in the Department of Medicine in the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota.
Dr. Harris moved on as OmegaQuant’s President in late 2020 to establish the Fatty Acid Research Institute (FARI), where he will go back to his roots of conducting research on fatty acids and health.
