Overall Experience & Expectations
We've been flagstar account holders for awhile, Now we just hold on to the account J.I.C. I myself have experienced what I feel is pure nosiness. Having direct deposit may not notate the exact name of the company making the deposit, and one time I was asked Where do you work!?🤔🤨. I wasn't trying to get indignant since flagstar does have "ALL" personal information, I answered. Most recently we felt the teller/associate wasn't at all friendly. Seemed just to the point, Not a crack of a smile!. No small talk, we even said happy holidays and received No Response🤔. I know not everyone may celebrate the holidays for whatever their reasons are. But we didn't even receive a have a nice day. Even if for whatever reason, they became irritated with us, the emotions shouldn't have shown it!.. I have noticed a change in staffing, But when the account was first opened the first staff members that were there, were very friendly in greeting upon entering and departing. Should covid19 be the blame for this as well!??. If some of the staff thinks they give the best experience, they need to rethink things and should be observed by upper management. This is a True and Sincere experience.....

Not a Bank -Fraud
Not a Bank. Complete and blatant fraud. 1. Website has such bugs specifically designed for the user to make mistakes in such a way that you will default on some dates. Will not increase limit to transfer money into Flagstar (the staff and probably are debt collector goons ) who formed a bank to defraud people. 2. The bank will count these defaults (the unsuspecting customers did not know or even suspect) and one day stop your transfers. Your access 3. Then comes the issue A. Cannot pay the bank your dues A1. Customer panics as to what is going on. Customer wants to pay but cannot A2. Customer calls bank, straight to collections. Customer panics again. Mind you all this time the the customer is trying to pay. A3. Customer service stays silent and intimidates you with low level threats and who are you and why are you calling me attitude A4. Customer confused asks how to pay. Flag star gang member ( customer service ) says one word “P.O. Box). Customer googles and gets two P.O. Box. A5. Flag star gang member suggests only banker check. I ask to take my money from my flag star checking (lots of money sitting there) A6. Flag star gang member says only other bank cashier check. Also suggested it will be lost. At this point one does not know what to do. No call, letter explainingNOTHING Now let me give FLAGSTAR and the board some free advice. First rule of business ‘Make money legally’ Second rule Be mindful of employees and social impact/awareness your business causes This is not written by me, any business graduate knows this. FLAGSTAR and board is destined for a class action and we will enjoy you all going to jail

Excellent Financial Mortgage Company
I am the owner of 2 businesses, one of which is a property company, in addition to being a busy wife and mother. We are in the middle of a remodel and I made the mistake of not having transferred the money into the right account in time. I called Flagstar on a Saturday afternoon and within a short, very pleasant few minutes Flagstar had resolved my issues. Reena C. was my customer service representative and I cannot say enough great things about her professionalism and knowledge. I deal with a variety of financial institutions frequently. Flagstar has a great user friendly website which I wish some of the other businesses could employ and when I needed to talk with someone they were incredibly

Run away from Flagstar Bank!
Run away from Flagstar Bank!! Thank me later... They will close your bank account with one letter with no explanation out of the blue. Instead of scrambling last minute to move your banking somewhere else, do your banking with some big-name bank, not this shady institution. Save yourself time and aggravation. We had a checking account with our old bank for 20 years, and after Flagstar took over, the account was closed for no reason... Don't be next. Many other customers at my branch got the same treatment.

Mortgage customer service is completely…
Mortgage customer service is completely unprofessional, they delayed the payoff process after selling the property for more than 2 weeks and simply "football" you between departments. Nobody does anything to help, they just come up with excuses why they can't do it, a bunch of slackers, and no sense. I highly recommend not working with this company, and if such a misfortune occurs, be prepared for complete indifference and ignoring you as a client.

Absolutely horrible mortgage company
Absolutely horrible mortgage company. I'm so disappointed that both my home loan and the loan for our rent house were sold to them shortly after closing. They have been a nightmare. This morning I got a voicemail with no information to call back a number that then says "this is an attempt to collect a debt" yada yada yada and I know neither loan has ever been late so I get a rep on the phone. She's starts off that my loan is due by next week in the amount of $198,000+ and I'm like "woe woe woe, what are you talking about? I've never missed a payment and have proof that you received my last one a month ago". She says she needs to read me all the "consequences" before she can answer any questions. So it turns out that they sent a letter that my escrow was actually overfunded a month ago and my payment was being reduced slightly. I paid the new amount listed earlier this month. Turns out that it wasn't supposed to go into effect until NEXT month, so my payment was $100ish short since that new payment amount shouldn't have been made yet and the old, higher payment should have been for one more month. All this BS over something so simple and easily explained and corrected, but they jump straight to scare tactics and bullying. What a horrible, horrible company. It's not fair that we get no say in loans being sold off to companies we would never choose to do business with otherwise.

Flagstar bank is in no way making any attempts to help us save our home. The refuse to process our docs, have hung up on us on several occasions, told us we wont be approved for mortgage assistance, told under review many times only to hv them ask for more docs. Been able to mk pyts for over a year bt they wont tk our payments. Covid Forebearance was a deceitful attempt to steal our homes.

Flagstar Investment Division Failed Miserably
As a long time customer, if able I would give this institution no stars. I purchased an annuity from a Ft Wayne, IN branch with a three year maturity. Due to management ineptitude in Ft Wayne and Grand Rapids,MI it has been nearly thirty days since maturity without funds having been sent. In speaking directly to the company that Flagstar brokered with, I was told that obviously they are having difficulty executing procedural matters necessary to correctly process and ensure monies being remitted. While having no banking or annuity sales experience within 30 minutes I successfully completed the required forms which Flagstar failed to provide and was told the monies would be in my account within two business days.

They were great until they weren't
My 3 stars is actually above average for this company, but I'm definitely writing this with a bad taste in my mouth. I see right now that they have made some changes, merging with NYCB, and are offering a pretty good promotional interest rate on their checking account among other things. It sounds like a good deal, go get it if you want. But be aware that they will screw you as soon as they don't need you anymore. That is what happened to me. I was a happy Flagstar credit card customer for 1-2 years, then they sold their portfolio to FNBO. The communication was minimal, partial, and only by mail. FNBO is converting my credit card to a much worse card (I had Elan Max Cash Preferred and they are switching it to a generic card, plus potentially changing my credit limit--"they'll let me know"). I mostly blame FNBO, and there are more details in my one-star FNBO review. So clearly Flagstar was not interested in protecting its customers when they negotiated the sale to FNBO. Now that would make sense if they were going out of business or exiting the retail market, because then maybe their reputation wouldn't be important to protect. But they're not. After the NYCB merger, they are displaying their name prominently and offering good deals to lure new customers. You would think that they would value their reputation. Guess not. I may do business with them again, but I'll be watching my back.

False reporting of missed payments.
FlagStar bank's actions are highly questionable and concerning. Despite receiving and depositing payments after a completed loss mitigation process, their false reporting of missed payments to credit bureaus is a blatant misrepresentation of facts. Such conduct not only undermines the integrity of the loss mitigation process but also raises serious questions about the bank's ethical practices. It is appalling that an institution entrusted with financial responsibilities would engage in such deceptive behavior, potentially causing significant harm to individuals' credit standings. The fact that legal action is being pursued underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for accountability. FlagStar's actions, if proven, should be condemned and met with appropriate consequences to deter such unacceptable conduct in the future.

Fraudulent bank procedures
I tried eight times to open an account with Flagstar. In the process, the site froze, at the same location every time. I contacted the bank and talked to an agent to determine if any of the accounts had gone through. He said "No." He wanted me to go through setting up an account with him on the phone. I did. The site froze at the same location, again. I decided if they had glitches in the set up process, where else were there glitches and decided to NOT open an account. Several days later, I receive THREE email congratulating me on opening accounts. THREE when I did not even complete the process for one! I called and talked to a rep. She said she would write up a case and have my money refunded. Nothing happened. I called the bank again the next day. Same response. She would follow up and have the bank refund my money. Nothing happened. I called again today. They can't refund me the money. I have to request the accounts be closed and pay a penalty for early closure! They can decide if they want to close my account or not! If they decide to close the account, I will be charged an early termination fee. They steal my money, then I have to pay to get it back!
